Re: NCDR - Poll - Please add your own hair pics :)

  • I voted no because it matches the rest of her hair but was wondering if that is the way her hair grew in or have you cut it that way??  Baby hair is so cute the way it grows in!  Also if you do choose to cut it, are you cutting the front and sides?

We def did not cut it that way, but a good bit broke off when she was about 2.5 months so some of it is short and some is long. I wouldn't touch the front, but she is sporting a George Washington/NKOTB size tail for sure.

Yes  I say leave it! She'll only be able to get away with hair like that once ;-)

  • I would cut it, just to even it out a bit. I dont think its ugly and I see my DD's hair growing in the same way. She lost a lot of it right in the middle where her head rubs the sheets so the hair closes to her neck is long compared to everything else.  I would just trim it a bit and dont forget to save some for her baby book.

  • I think it's absolutely awesome and would leave it.

DH and I decided Viv would receive no haircuts until it was getting in her eyes.

She only has the beginnings of a baby mullet so far.

Doood.  She needs bangs AND a rattail.  And parachute pants.  We can all flashback to 1990!

  • Coming from a mom that cut her kid's hair several times before she was one, yes. Reese's hair was out of control! Grier will probably be getting her first hair cut soon. She looks like Donald trump right now.

  • And further visual of the George Washington do. Taken about 2 weeks ago when it was pointed out to me that I should cut it.

Lila does have bit of a Beiber thing going on in the front for sure.

Yoda - I will not cut it into a 90's do on purpose. :)

  • I am torn. On one side, I think it would look nice to even it out. But on the other, my DS is sporting a similar 'do (though only about four inches) in the form of two tails that curl around his ears. I told DH I will not cut it until he's 2 or 3. Baby hair is the sweetest, and really, when else can one get away with rocking a crazy 'do?

  • OMG that hair is hilarious!  She has a natural rat tail.  Or a mullet.  Take your pick, lol.

Edit:  3 more things- I adore her side rolls!  Also, I cannot believe how long her hair is!!  I thought DD had crazy long hair, but it's not even that long.  I am in 100% agreement with the no bangs thing.  DD's hair is totally in her eyes right now but I keep telling DH it's short-term pain & cutting it is no option.

  • As far as bangs, I finally had to give in and have Reese's hair cut that way. She wouldn't leave a clip or hair tie in and she started breaking her hair off by pulling them out. She still kind of has the Farrah faucet look going on because of it. I just got the cd with Grier's 3 month pictures. There's one that looks like her toupee is about to fly off. She kind of has the reverse mullet, but with the old man receding hair line. We often call her omg, old man Grier.

  • Lol. I almost peed myself. That is awesome. George Washington. Bwhahahahaha. And the pony tail. Crying

We haven't done anything with Lucy's hair yet (other than detangle, which she HATES). She has curly hair and her bangs (which everyone assumes we cut) just haven't grown like the rest of her hair. With "Papa" (grandpa):

    She's such a cutie!

  • hahah, my DD also has a mullet! Her hair up top is shorter and the sides/back is long, the only difference is hers curls up around so it doesn't hang long when dry. If you see her in the bath though it's out of control. I love it! My mom always comments on cutting her hair and I just tell her she's a girl and she's growing it out ;)

But whatever you decide your DD will be adorable!

  • I voted to cut it.  But, I am also one of the torn ones.  Because I wouldn't want to cut her hair until absolutely necessary.  However, that is interesting way of growing and I like things even.  We don't have anything crazy yet.

  • E has super crazy hair.  It kind of looks like an angled bob right now, but we haven't cut it.  It is curly, too.  The front can juuuust fit behind her ear, but it doesn't stay there yet.  Me trying to fix her hair is like the only thing in the world that pisses her off so I don't force the issue often.

  • Reverse mullet = Short in the back, long in the front.  :oD  I'll take a picture tomorrow.
  • Those pictures are *too* cute! I voted keep it, but if it really bothers you maybe just trim it a tiny bit?

DD1's hair started curling/fluffing up once it started getting past her ears so I had really nothing to deal with there. DS got a hair cut at 1, his hair was past his ears but all the same length. We'll see how DD2's hair turns out.

I'll share some pics from tonight, right after bath time. Here's what we're dealing with all.the.time. Her fuzz just wont go down:

Was she born with a ton too? Lila's was like an inch long at birth.

I seriously can't wait for more pics.

Megan, I love Elle's hair so much! My hair is stick straight and hers is sooo curly! Love it!

  • I vote for cutting it but Peyton had a rat tail at about 7 or 8 months.  I couldn't handle it anymore one day and just trimmed if off myself.  It bothered me way too much!  This pic in my siggy is the first time we actually got her hair cut, at 3 years old!

We barely have enough to keep a clip in. So my vote is keep it. You don't want her first haircut to be a teeny trim off the back right? A full haircut is what I'm assuming your waiting for.

  • DD at the height of her reverse mullet at 7-ish months. She always had at least a thin layer in back (no bald spots) but the hair on top of her head had a mind of it's own. Her hair curls when wet. This is a post bath air dried hair pic. Things have gotten more under control recently.

    image

  • DD's hair is nowhere near so awesome. It's starting to thicken up and get longer, but just in back, and she has a few collar curves, that's about it.

It was hilarious when she was a few months younger because her cowlick was casing all her hair to whisk to one side in back. It was perfectly straight across in back and looked like it had been cut that way.

Neither DH nor I had much hair when we were little, but we more than make up for it now. My hair is curly now, but it was board straight when I was little.

  • DS has a bit of a mohawk going, and I could see it turning into a reverse mullet down the road.  If I remember, I'll spike it when it's wet after his bath today and take a photo.  Last time it stayed for a couple of days when I let it dry like that.

I think for me I'd be more likely to cut a tail off for a boy than for a girl.  If it bothers you, though, that's the most important thing.
