3rd Trimester

Heavy pink discharge at 30 weeks?

I'm sorry if this is gross.

But I am 30 weeks pregnant.

Just a couple hours ago I was driving home from work and felt a massive gush.

I got home and went straight to the bathroom and found heavy pink discharge. I'm not feeling any pressure or contractions. I called the hospital and they said as long as I'm not in any pain I shouldn't worry about it, but I could call my doctor when the office opens. They discharge is turning red, but it's not as heavy. Still, they said not to worry too much about it. Honestly, I'm freaking out. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I didn't have any troubles with the first two. I've still got 4 hours until I can call my doctor. Any suggestions??

Re: Heavy pink discharge at 30 weeks?

  • I would be worried too, especially since it's turning red now. Maybe you should just go into L&D to get checked out instead of waiting all that time for your Dr.

    Hope everything turns out ok

  • I don't know how far along you are but I think you need to call your OB. they will most likely send you to L&D. I'm pretty surprised the hospital was so dismissive given what you told them. GL to you! ETA: just realized you're 30 weeks. If I were you I'd go directly to L&D.

  • I would definitely head to L&D also. Sounds pretty serious to me, esp. at 30 weeks.

  • I'm a FTM but maybe it was your mucus plug? I would definately be going to the hospital perhaps a different hospital than the one you called.
  • I ended up going to the hospital and they checked everything over. I still have my mucus plug. They said everything was normal. The best they could explain it was 'hormones'.
