This wasn't directed at you, or any of the Moms on here. It was a blanket statement about the insecurities that almost all women feel. Before and after birth.

The post below was what prompted me to write it, but I wasn't intending to make anyone feel bad.

If you heard it in that tone, then I can assure you that you misunderstood it.

no offense honey...but you're a first-time mom, you haven't been through this before..so are you really able to give advice to moms on how to feel afterwards?

This is a big reason why I had a problem with her post.  I don't care what size she is, but telling people how they should or shouldn't feel is not her place.  Body issues are not the only problems people are having.  There are plenty of us with PPA/PPD, struggles returning to work, trouble with baby sleeping/eating/etc. and many more things.  The last thing anyone needs is to feel guilty for their feelings.

It also concerns me a little that you (mamabird) don't seem to understand why people are offended.

  • Size Zero?  That's nothing...  Not to get off topic but I have never understood why they make a size zero?  Zero means nothing...  We are all above nothing...

Number: No quantity or number; naught; the figure 0.

  • Ugh, I know exactly how you feel. The carseat didn't fit in my Ferrari, so I had to trade it in on a Porsche!

  • I can't resist.  I have to put in my two cents.

My desire to get rid of my squishy stomach and larger thighs is motivated out of love for my body and not hate.  It did an amazing job of growing a healthy human being.  Now it deserves some attention from me in the gym to get it back to where it should be.

I hope to teach my son to eat healthy and to exercise to maintain a healthy weight.  For those of us who have struggled for a long time to get to a healthy weight, a huge setback that is caused by pregnancy is very disheartening.  If you haven't struggled with your weight it can be hard to fully comprehend how this feels.

Says the size zero. Although, FWIW I tend to think women who are size 0 look more like little boys then real women.

    Whoa, was that really necessary?

  • Mama bird, your feelings about your body are legitimate but so are the feelings of the other posters. I know there is an entirely different set of feelings that comes along with being s size 0 as my sister struggles with that, buti think if you haven't struggled with your weight then it is easy to say "size doesn't matter". I don't think you put down your size as a brag or to make everyone feel bad, but it is frustrating that you don't see why that might hurt other people. That being said my issues come less from the appearance of my body and more from feeling like I am physically out of shape. I ran a half marathon a week before becoming pregnant and now I run a mile and feel winded. I am proud of what my body did with this pregnancy, but I also want to get back the physical ability to keep up with my son as he ages. At the same time, it is disheartening that NOTHING fits because of my porn star size breasts. I wouldn't give up BFing my son for anything, but it can be really depressing to leave every store fitting room with nothing that fits. So sometimes it is hard to look in a mirror and think d@mn this body is amazing, look what it can do when none of your clothes fit and you can't even find new ones.
