Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Boys with doll strollers

I was reading an older post about this and about the many dh's who might not be cool with the idea.  I just wanted to show you (and them) a picture of the stroller we got ds several years ago.   We get stopped all the time by moms who say their dh's would love it "even though" it's a doll stroller.  I just googled the company- Little Drivers- and it doesn't seem like they are making them anymore - but I'm sure there are other companies doing something similar.  So for those dh's who are concerned about their boy having a doll stroller (and that is silly to me), I just wanted to show that there are "boy" options.

  • Cute pics.  People don't think boys will grow up to be men who stroll their babies?

LOL- that's what they're afraid of - it's silly but the fear is there.  I just liked the police one because dh used to be a po.  I had no idea that people had that stereotype and fear of "girl stuff" until ds started using the stroller and it got so much attention.

  • Considering i think it runs in the family.... i would be iffy on it.

My BIL had purses as a baby and.... yea.... he "caught the gay".

edit** i actually do really love that little stroller though! It's pretty neat!
  • A friend of mine is completely against boys playing with "girl toys" and viceversa. She was shocked to her very core when she asked me if I would let a daughter of mine play with a robot and I answered with a resounding "OF COURSE".

She also said a boy has no bussiness being at the beauty parlor with mom.

Worst part is, she is only 26 YsO.

I would let a girl play with boy stuff but when It comes to pretty pink things... right about now is the age where I'm kind of iffy on letting him start to explore with girly things. ONLY because I SWEAR i think it runs in the family! no joke - hereditary! Not sure if there is any research on it but seriously.... i may be on to something! lol

  • I would let any child play with any toy that they are interested in.  Boys in my old toddler and preschool classes were just as interested in playing with babies, blankets, and cradles, as the girls were in using magnifying glasses to inspect bugs and racing toy cars.

As far as buying them so my DS, so far he pretty much only has gender neutral toys except for a couple Little People cars that some people might consider a boy toy.  I'm actually having a super hard time finding a plush baby boy doll for him and if anyone knows of a store that carries a nice one or a website, please let me know!  That stroller is super cute.  I have no problem even getting a regular toy stroller in a grey or green for him to play with.  And I take him with me every 7 weeks to my hair appointment with my gay hairdresser.  So take that to all the sillies that think "gay" is learned and contagious.

So it runs in the family but is caught by touching girly things?

Google 'Under The Nile? - they have very gender neutral dolls and toys, and so does ?Plan?, I think. I don?t know exactly what you?re looking for though.

My 4-year-old picked out his flip flops from the girls section of Target - they?re turquoise with polka dots. He must have already caught the gay.

My son is gay! ? Oh darling, personal shopper for life!

Just leave it out for him to find on his own. See what he does with it so you know if he actually caught the gay.

  • I let my daughter wear boy underwear.

    She's screwed.
