Listing a house for rent.

Does anyone have any recommendations for websites to place your house up for rent? We are planning on renting our house out starting the beginning of August and just curious if anyone knows of a good place to list. We did Craigslist and I am thinking of doing a newspaper ad, any other places I should try?

Yep, we often looked at CL first as well. I know Zillow.com lists homes for rent. I'm not sure how you get yours listed there. That's all I can think of. I've always found it difficult as a renter to find home rental listings anywhere besides CL and Real Estate websites (many real estate agents also do rentals). It's actually frustrating sometimes. Someone needs to start a national website like forrent.com but for homes only.

It's even frustrating to look on CL because you have to weed through the 9 billion apartment listings to find the houses. I'm not looking forward to starting our search again in September.

You also have to weed through all the scams on CL. There are so many swindlers on that site. We saw the same house for rent 10 different times with 10 different addresses and 10 different prices when we were looking for an apartment to rent in Seattle. It was nuts that this guy just kept up with it. You'd have thought he would have moved on after I reported him every.single.time!

Yikes! We've been lucky using CL so far. I have heard that due to the housing crisis; there are scam artists listing the empty homes for rent that they don't or never did, own. So awful!
