I think it's okay, but then the name carries bad connotations for me. I like it better as Sydney.
Me too.

I love it for a girl name much more than a boy name. I don't like the Sid spelling. I like sydney/sydnee and I have a friend whose name is spelled Cydney, which is different but not sure if I love it.
My sisters name is Sidney Jane. I love the name, but I may be biased. She was born when Sidney only had one spelling, the way she does. I view Sydney to be a younique spelling of the name, that's become popular.
Her nick name is Sid though, it doesn't bother her, and it's similar to how and Amanda will be Manda or a Rachel becomes Rachey in the moment.
FWIW, I'm pretty sure she's never been confused for a boy based on her spelling nor has anyone said 'oh that's spelled the boy way'.
She really likes it, and prefers the spelling she has. Most people go to spell it that way, and she very rarely has to correct them.

I like Sydney for a girl. Not Sidney.
This. I think this is one of the few names where a Y spelling is expected, and not just "unique."
I didn't like this name in theory. But then I heard it used in the show Parenthood, and it grew on me.
If others don't like it, it might grow on them, too if used with a really cute little girl!
This! It's def on my list for next time!

For some reason I think boy with Sidney and more girl with Sydney
