Anything to do in Milwaukee?

Dh is going to Milwaukee this fall for a conference and I'm trying to decide if it's worth the kids and me tagging along. I've only been there a couple of times in the mid 90s and don't really remember much about it, plus it was certainly before I had kids.

Is there much to do in Milwaukee with kids? Is it worth us tagging along? Dh will be busy the entire 3 days so it would just be the kids and me on our own for the most part.

ETA: The only memorable thing I can remember is stopping at the Mars Cheese Castle, but that's not even in Milwaukee, LOL. Kenosha, isn't it?

  • Lots, actually. The zoo is pretty nice, Milwaukee Public Museum, Miller Park tour (or a Brewers game depending on when in fall he'd be there), Discovery World, Betty Brinn Children's museum. The lakefront is nice too.

If you have a car, there are lots of nature related things to do just outside the city and if its later in fall, the colors are really lovely.

Oh - one I just thought of is the Country Springs waterpark.  It's like 15-20 mins west of downtown and indoor!

Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
  • You can come visit me. :-)

There's Discovery World, Betty Brinn, Public Museum, the zoo... There's some nice walking paths down by the lake. There's a harvest fest just north in Cedarburg depending on when you come in the fall. You could also find a pumpkin patch with hay rides, corn maze, etc, although you could do those things at home too. We haven't been to the Country Springs waterpark, but I've heard good things about it. It's near Waukesha/Pewaukee.

Awesome list!  I grew up in milw, and visit maybe 5-7 times/year with the kids.  I was going to suggest some things, but this list pretty much covers it all.  You'll definitely find lots to keep yourself busy.
