Vacation without baby?

Do any of you plan on taking a vacation without LO? DH is navy and he has a mandatory trip to Vegas with one guest. People are telling me I am selfish for going, Our hotel, his food, and his airfare are completely paid for. I only need to pay for my flight and food. I will be gone 3days and 4 nights.

Oh and I should add we get there the day after I turn 21.

Do you think I am being selfish for taking a vacation with DH? LO will be with my mom in capable hands.

Re: Vacation without baby?

  • Personally, I don't think that is selfish at all. I'm sure you'll get mixed responses, but if given the opportunity I would do the same.

DH is going to Japan for a month on business and if it wasn't for the radiation issue (I'm just paranoid) I would be going to visit him for a long weekend leaving LO with my mom.

  • I have yet to go on a vacation with DH alone, but if that sort of opportunity showed up for us, you can bet I'd be jumping on it! Go and have fun!

  • It isn't selfish at all, only a few days, and LO will be well taken care of.

I couldn't do it, but if you're comfortable with leaving her, go for it.

  • It's 100% NOT selfish. I say go and enjoy yourself! If we had the same opportunity we'd totally go.

    Yes Enjoy yourself and GO!

    ...
  • GO!  you will be a better wife and a better mother for it.

I left my son with my parents when he was 8 months old.  Dh and I went on a 5 day vacation.  leaving him was the hardest thing I ever did, but it ended up being a great thing b/c it was nice to just be husband/wife again.  We took another cruise the following summer, and he did fine with my parents again.

Since I took an extended maternity leave, and I am not getting a paycheck again until December, we are not planning on doing a vacation this year, but if the opp. presented itself, especially where most of it was paid.. hell yeah we'd be there!

  • go! and have fun! I'm sure it'll be hard to leave LO at first but sometimes we all just need a break:)

  • Who the eff is saying it is selfish for you all to go on this trip? Tell them to eff off and go and have a good time. Do not feel guilty for taking a quick trip to enjoy yourselves as a married couple.

I would go today and not feel too guilty. I hope you go and have a fantastic time!

  • I definately do not think you are selfish at all! I think it's necessary for parents have time for each other and yourself. Happy Mom and Dad equals happy healthy home for your baby. Have a great time!
  • Not selfish at ALL! SO & I are going on a 2 day cruise in August without the baby. It's also an all paid work event.
