omg...stretch marks!

Ok so I have never in my life had a stretch mark. Well now I do, but on the back of my right leg only. it's the oddest thing. I almost cried last night but then DH said he didn't and won't mind them b/c they are "baby marks"; marks of a mommy and what I went through to give us a family. So freakin sweet! however, I still do want to fix or minimize the ones I can. I use Mama bees belly balm and cocoa butter. I've heard of mederma, Has that worked for anyone?

Re: omg...stretch marks!

  • I haven't tried Mederma.  I have been using cocoa butter just trying to prevent additional marks like what I got from my first 2 pregnancies.  Trust me, they fade.

  • I use Mama Bee (from Burt's Bees). You can minimize them (to a certain degree) but for the most part if you get them then that is it. My adoptive-mom used mederma on her surgery scars from her hysterectomy (I make the distinction because she didn't get her scars during pregnancy. So its different) and says that it works great. So I am trying it on my stretch marks. I would say there is a little bit of improvement, but honestly not much.

I have resolved to myself that my body won't be the same and am slowly making peace with it. Good luck to you.

  • I have heard that Mederma works well...but nothing else really, other than laser surgery later on if you really want to remove them. I got about 3 stretch marks with my first, and a TON with my second. All over my butt, belly, hips, and inner thighs. I joke with my H that DD was like a little tiger trying to claw her way out. Wear them with pride: they are pregnancy/ Mommy badges!
  • I have used regular Mederma on my scars and loved it. I am now using Mederma stretch mark on my old stretch marks (boobs, thighs and back from a puberty growth spurt). They had faded but for some reason recently became somewhat visible again. I am also putting it on my stomach and hips. I don't think it will prevent them but I'm hoping if any pop up it will help minimize them before they get too noticeable. It was fairly expensive but I don't mind spending the money on beauty products.
  • i used Mederma lotion and serum last pregnancy.  It took the itch out of my belly but didn't do much for the stretch marks.  I think if you are going to get them you are going to get them.  Sorry!

  • This isn't specifically for stretch marks, but a friend of mine gave me this lotion for my birthday a few months ago and it works so well at soothing my skin. I just ran out and went on their website to order more...and they are running a free promotion, so you get the lotion, and 4 lip balms for free! Shipping is $6.95. https://acquabody.com/?p=337

  • I have been using Bio-Oil on my belly, thighs, and breast since I got pregnant. I keep a bottle next to my side of the bed and put it on before I put my jammies on at night, and then I have a bottle in the bathroom and put some on after I get out of the shower in the morning. My mom got stretch marks REALLY bad after she had the 3 of us....so I am hoping that if I end up getting them, me starting out with the Bio-Oil during the whole pregnancy will lessen the amount of time it takes for them to fade.
