As soon as we start introducing solids, I'm going to decrease the number of pumps each day (so at least 6 months?).
To tell you the truth, it's already starting to wear on me and if formula didn't cost so much $$, I would have considering stopping after she was 6w old. But that's just me.

i posted about this yesterday. i am pumping for another 19 days. that will be six months of pumping. but i have a deep freezer busting full of milk- about another 3 months (30 oz a day). i just want to be done with it. i could go longer but i am really done with pumping. i have a great supply and i haven't had any major problems but i am really mentally over pumping every three hours, washing the parts, all the extra bottles, buying freezer bags (i go through 50 a week or so)-
i feel bad- i am a SAHM-- so i feel like i should be able to go longer but i am so over it. we will see how i feel in 19 days.
I'm at 5 months already now but I haven't gone back to work yet. We'll reevaluate once I'm back when he turns 6 months. That was my goal to begin with but, now that I've been doing it, I love it and don't want to stop. Realistically with work, it may not be possible to continue.
I'm going to give it another 2 weeks to see if my supply increases anymore. Right now it takes me 4 sessions to make a 4oz. bottle - which sucks. But that's up from 6-8 sessions. We've had lots of BFing/EPing problems, but it's getting better.
I plan on pumping until DS is a year, however I'm already having to supplement him with a bottle of formula periodically just to keep up. So we will see.
My goal is for him to never have to have formula.... so a year, combined pumping and bfing. I really enjoy bfing and don't mind pumping at all (work is very supportive of that) so I'm sure I'll be able to go at least a year. I'm sure I probably won't pump anymore after 12 mos, but I might bf a little longer if he wants to.
6 months is my goal, I've recently had to start supplementing about 4 to 6 ounces of formula a day, I just can't seem to keep up anymore. ?I would really love to make a year but I'm just not sue it's realistic for me.?
Re: Pumping- How long do you plan on?
Same as you! 2 more months before I re-evaluate but I have a feeling I won't quit.
