Obviously I will follow the doctors orders, but I was curious if everyone else was prepped about water before their growth ultrasound. The imaging center told me I needed to drink and retain 32 oz of water for the ultrasound. Not a huge deal, but I can't imagine that holding 32 oz of water in my bladder is going to be fun with the babe pushing down on it!
At this point do they need the water for a clear image or is it more to make sure I'm not dehydrated for amniotic levels?
Re: Water consumption before growth ultrasound
Probably for imaging purposes. Every place is different - at mine I had to drink 24 oz of water and hold it for both of my anatomy scans (couldn't see her spine at 20 weeks, had to check again at 24). But once I pass 30 weeks, I think, they tell you not to drink.
The bladder being full can affect the position of the baby/uterus. Chances are they'll let you go use the bathroom half way through the scan and then they'll have a slightly different view of the baby. Better to start with a full bladder than have to wait for it to fill up.

In case anyone else reads this and needs the info...
The water was so that she could check my cevix and I was able to pee once she had that measurement and finish the ultrasound with an empty bladder. Yay!
