Now that Hudson is completely weaned from the bottle I feel like he's not taking in enough liquids. We offer a sippy of milk or water (sometimes watered down juice 1/4 juice and 3/4 water - if he won't take anything else) throughout the day, but he's generally disinterested. He probably doesn't even take in 8 oz. of milk throughout the day and I'm not even sure how much other fluids - although he eats a ton of fruit.
The past couple days he has gone long stretches with no wet diapers (8+ hours). Is this ok?? I am worried he's not getting enough fluid, but I don't know what to do about it.
He's also been super cranky the past couple days - so I'm not sure if he's still teething or not feeling well (he had a low grade fever yesterday) and if this has something to do with the lack of wet diapers ..
Re: How much - Liquids/urinating?
8 hours without a wet diaper seems like too long. I don't know of any rules about that, but I think you need to push the water. Try popsicles maybe? Or let him stand at the sink with a regular open cup to drink and play with? Maybe if it's fun he'll drink more? or a straw cup instead of a sippy?
It took Lucy a few weeks to really get comfortable with sippies only. We also had to try a couple different kinds before we found one that she liked best.
I think 8 hrs. is too long without a wet diaper. On top of trying to get him to drink more, try offering foods with higher water content - watermelon, broccoli, apples.
