Has anyone delivered at this hospital? I am due in October and will be delivering here and wondering what others experiences where. My 1st LO was born in VA and I had a great experience.
Also someone told me that some of the hospitals in this area that are catholic hospitals will not perform tube tying procedures. I know my OB lists it as an in office procedure but thought it would be easier to just get it done and over with while in the hospital already. Is this true or just BS.
Thanks
Re: St David's in Round Rock on 620
I had my daughter there. They offered to tie my tubes if I had a c-section.
My L&D room was awesome, it was huge. Nurses were great. Then they moved us to a recovery room and it was really small and uncomfortable. We were in that room less than 24 hours so it wasn't a huge deal, more of a minor annoyance. I think they were doing renovations at the time - this was 2008 - so it might be better now.
I delivered there. I really liked labor and delivery. The rooms were huge. The nurses were very nice. I ended up having a c-section. The recovery rooms were okay. The "bed"/couch for DH was horrible for him to sleep on. I was there for 5 days (including labor/delivery). Some recovery nurses were good, some were not. If you (hopefully not) end up with a c-section, don't try to get your first meal in the middle of the night--there was nothing they could give me. I hadn't eaten in 2 days because I just would not pass the gas they so wanted me to. And when I finally did, it was after the cafe closed and I was SOL.
I didn't mind it. I was able to get up and walk around. There is a nice "garden" you can go outside (W/O baby) if you are there long enough and need some fresh air.
For the most part, my experience was okay. Baby roomed in with me. The LC wasn't that great if you need her.
GL.
LOL that's right, I forgot about her. I had requested a session (meeting?) with the LC as soon as possible after birth. She didn't show up until we were checking out and by that time I had already given up. She was really nice, though. And may have been helpful if she could have made it about 20 hours sooner
Yeah, I saw 2 different ones and they gave me conflicting info. I think what one told me screwed me up. Then I called the hotline when I got home and the one I talked to basically made me feel like shiiit because I couldn't feed my baby right and he wasn't gaining weight. Not cool to tell a first time mom who was having bf-ing issues.
Don't let the LC stop you though OP. Maybe it's a different gal by now.
I have delivered there twice and it was wonderful both times. Awesome nurses, wonderful suites. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I have no compliants at all.
I would request Sherry as your nurse. I had her my first time and requested her with my second. She is an older nurse who has been a L&D nurse for many many years and is awesome!!!
No information on that specific hospital but I did deliver at St. David's South. I had a great experience with them.
St. David's is an Episcopal Church affiliated hospital and will do tubal ligations. Seton, which is Catholic, will not.
I've delivered there twice with no issues. St. David's in Round Rock ranks highly both locally and nationally in their partner system for Customer Satisfaction. I wasn't blown away by the LC's either but was happy to have their services anyway.
I also happen to work there (different department) but I know for certain they perform tubals. PP is correct, it is Seton that won't do them. For non OB patients, they won't give you birth control pills while you are an inpatient. Additionally they do not offer Plan B (the morning after pill) to victims of rape. That's why I don't work at Seton.

Wow that is too funny!! My FIL works in Long Island for his company a couple days a week. I will be going to NJ in July for 2 weeks to visit as well. I have been super home sick for VA and NJ this pregnancy.
We are currently in Leander and DH works near the Domain. Have to say I am liking Texas a lot though.
We are in south Austin. We like it here for the most part, just not a fan of the long hot summers.
Glad you are getting back to the east coast for your fix next month!
