Working Out

I don't know how a WM or a SAHM finds the energy to work out, but I am trying to find motivation to do so. Right now, on Maternity Leave, I have only worked out once- last week. That is fine, I got approval from the doc.

I just don't seem to have the energy around 6pm when DH gets home. I just want to crash.

Does this get better? I cannot even imagine what it will be like when I get back to work. I gotta take care of my body..

Re: Working Out

  • I got my SIL to join my gym so we motivate each other to go...

  • It's really hard. Before the baby I worked out at least 5 days a week for about 2 hours. Now I'm lucky if I get a walk in a day. There is just so much to do between housework, the baby, and we have a puppy.?

I would just try to do what you can, possibly in intervals. 20 min in the morning , then 20 at night or whenever DH is there to help out.?

  • I started just making myself go when DH gets home which is usually around 6-6:30. I noticed I feel much better after and even the next day. Plus, it's nice to get out of the house and do something for yourself. While you are home you could try and find a work out dvd you could do with or while DC is sleeping.

Just remember the better you feel the better you will be for DC and that's what's most important.

THAT is SO true!! Best quote!

  • it does get better, but it is still hard.  my husband travels a lot, so i end up talking her on walks or runs with me.  she really enjoys it.  i also try to do strength training while she is sleeping.

  • If I don't do it right after work, I don't exercise at all.  If the weather is nice, I put DD in our moby wrap and go for a walk.  If I stay in, I sometimes put her in the wrap and do lunges/squats or watch a show on FitTV.  Unfortunately, I'd say for the most part that I don't work out now that I'm back to work full-time.
  • I haven't always been the greatest about my commitment to working out, especially now.  What helps me is already having my workout clothes on when DH gets home.  That gives me the push I need to work out.
