I was reading on a post below about how some of you are already stocking up on maxi pads, Tucks pads, etc.
Guess I need to start thinking about that!
So this may be a stupid question, but where do you get Tucks pads? Are they just in any pharmacy or at Walmart/Target? I had thought I would just be given some at the hospital, but now I'm wondering if I should get some on my own just in case...
Also what exactly is in them and how long after delivery do you need to use them?
Re: Tucks pads
By the stool softeners and hemorrhoid creams in any store-- Target, Wal Mart, etc.
They have witch hazel which is cooling and feels good on sore lady bits.
I bought mine at Walmart after DD was born. I think you can find them anywhere.
They've got witch hazel in them. They're not maxi-pads, more like wipes and provide relief from hemorrhoids, stitches, episiotomy, etc.
If you want to save some $$ you can make your own, too. Witch hazel costs like $1 or so. Soak a paper towel or anything else you'd like to use as your pad and voila. I already happen to have witch hazel on hand, so I don't plan to buy any tucks.
Added: Also, since I'm having a home birth my MW and her assistants will be making me some actual pads to wear that will have witch hazel on them and be put in the fridge or freezer to be made cold. They already provided me with a couple of those "snap cold" kind that hospitals usually give you. But, to have more cold ones on hand will be nice.
Yes, I got the Up and Up ones from Target and they say something along the lines of vaginal cleansing pads on them.
