I think we're so old (I'm 34, he's 36) that this is the case for us as well. I don't really want any trendy names but I can't really come up with any traditional ones that I like. Then I start to think about how important naming a human is and having that responsibility really stresses me out!

Totally! I am 31 and DH is 32 and we have loved the name Emma forever....but now it is almost boring or predictable. I also like Amelia, Caroline, Jane, and Camille. All "sound" boring to me now, even though I can't think of any names I like better.

I had a girl name picked out when I was in high school. DH was totally on board with it and expected that if DS1 was a girl, that would be 'her' name. But early into the pg I was having serious doubts and now I still don't like it! We really don't have any girl names that I like.... everything is boring! Ha!
I have to suggest Camilla. A friend named her DD Camilla and it is so sweet, with plenty of great nickname possibilities.
As for me, DH and I chose a great girls name about a year ago. I haven't talked to him about it lately but I think he still likes it! As for a boys name, that will be harder...He hates my favorite (Shane) and I haven't liked any he's suggested. Ah well, still lots of time!
Naming DS was super easy. DH's grandma's name is Evangeline so DH suggested Evan to honor her. I wasn't a huge fan of Evan but I love that he wanted to honor his gma and now I *love* his name. This next one was easy because DH handed me a list of girl names and I had 2 of the same names on my favorites list. Apparentely we have the exact same naming style.
I did want my first daughter to be named Cara but we have Sarah's and a Mara in our close circle of family and friends and that was just too close for DH. I love the name we chose so I'm happy to "give up" Cara.
Baba: Our son's name was super easy too. Both of my DH's grandfathers were great men and both were named Joseph and called "Joe." So, that was automatically our son's first name...even though I wasn't a huge fan of it. His middle name is Tate because my dad, granddad and great-granddad's had Tate as their middle name. So super easy.
This one....not so much.

I love all of your names! What about thinking of some more interesting middle names that might make them less boring to you?
Yes, this happened to me too! When I was pg with DS, the girl's name we had picked was Emily, but now I feel like it's past its peak and it would be passe to name a girl that now. I told DS how I felt and he was shocked, he still loves Emily. I don't really have any other ideas for a replacement either so we might still stick with Emily. Names are so hard with our last name because it's only 1 syllable and starts with an I, so first names ending in certain letters tend to just blur right into the last, and it needs to have at least 2 syllables. I don't like nicknames either, which makes it even harder!

I think part of it, too, is that a lot of the "traditional" names are becoming "trendy". The ones PP listed I feel like are traditional. We named DD Allison, I thought it was a nice traditional name, but then I saw the stats for 2010 and realized that it too is a popular name. I love Emily but DH and I each have an Emily in our family and I have a really good friend named Emily. Oh well.
I don't even know what we'll do if this one is a boy. I have such a hard time with boy names.

I don't want names that every other kid in his class will have but I also don't want names that are too long and unusual that he will have to explain for the rest of his life. Then you have to think of connotations with names. DH is English (therefore the boys are too) so we want names that aren't too American so they feel British also...
It is a difficult decision. I would say to toss out the names you have gotten bored with and re-evaluate. The names will be for keeps so they need to be able to last a lifetime
That said--as we get to know the wonderfulness of our babies, the names somehow become part of them so that I couldn't think of any other name for them.
ETA: I love your names. I wanted Emma but it has become too popular. Amelia is DH's niece's name and she goes by Millie. I like them all.
