XP: Son locked bathroom door!!

Does anyone have an interior door that is unlocked with a stick-like key?  My son has locked us out of the bathroom and I'm wondering if there is some type of trick to opening it, since sticking the key in the hole and turning isn't working, it doesn't seem to be catching on anything to unlock.

    I totally had a dream that DS did this while we were on vacation, but that he was in the bathroom and figured out how to turn on the water in the tub!  I was so glad it didn't happen!   Glad you got it open - what was the trick?
