Best morning sickness remedies.... help!

So, the m/s has finally kicked in- full swing!  I haven't thrown up yet, but for the past two days I've been nauseous from about 6:00am until 4:00pm.  I have zero appetite- nothing looks good at all.  I try to make myself eat little bits just to get something in me.  Here's what I've tried:

ginger altoids, drinking extra water, drinking sprite/sierra mist, chewing minty gum, crackers, etc.

I know this has been discussed before, but now that I'm actually experiencing it, I need to hear from everyone and get some more ideas.  I think I'll go buy those sea bands tomorrow to try those (can you just get those at Target?).

Re: Best morning sickness remedies.... help!

  • For nausea my sea bands do seem to take the edge off a little, also eating a few crackers just to get something in your stomach. I've also heard B6 vitamins work well. Honestly tho for full blown morning sickness with your head in a toilet all day long, All those things are really laughable. If it gets to that point get zofran, it was the only thing that kept me sane!

  • I also would eat a bite before I got out of bed in the morning.  Just a few saltines or oyster crackers and some milk.  Hope that helps!

  • I'm an oncology nurse so nausea & vomitting is my specialty. If you have a trader joe's or whole foods go and get Ginger cookies and Ginger candies. Most of the products you but at other stores (target, walmart) doesn't actually contain Ginger. The b6 is supposed to be taken with unisom. As pp said sometimes you have to step it up to zofran if these things don't work, but I would start here. Also if you can avoid cooking or being around food cooking it may help.

  • I had NO relief except for Zofran (prescription)  I was nauseous day and night for 4 months. Nothing worked for me except that....if it gets really bad talk to your Dr. BEST OF LUCK! It is terrible!
  • sea bands and a few jelly beans. guess the sugar helps? (same concept as preggie pops)

  • I got Zofran yesterday but I had been using Sea Bands, lemon drops, lemons in my water, trying to eat often (but not a large amount).  My doctor told me to take B6 with Unisom but I'm not sure if I will.

  • I'm taking the generic Zofran, and it really is a miracle pill! My m/s started about a week ago and lasted literally ALL DAY. The only relief I had was when I was asleep. After I ended up crying in the bathroom at work this week I called the doctor and was prescribed Zofran. They told me I could take a 8mg pill up to 3x a day, but I manage to take just 1 pill in the morning. It gets me past being sick long enough to get something on my stomach, and if I can eat throughout the day I don't get sick again. I know no one wants to take medication while pregnant, but it's better than being dehydrated and not being able to eat. Good luck!!

  • I'm glad you asked this. The nausea just started yesterday for me. I'm off to buy Saltines, ginger candy and ginger cookies today at TJ's!
