Don't mean to be a PW, but...

Do you (or did you) plan on doing anything for your nurses/doctors in the NICU upon discharge? Did you only do something for the nurses that worked with your LOs the most or did you just do something for everything since technically they all help out at one point or another?

  • We made a fruit/muffin/goodie basket for everyone and I wrote thank you cards to our favorite nurses and all the neos.

  • We are giving our nurses something special, not sure what.  But I am on the L&D ward and all the nurses are so awesome.  We will bring something in for them that day too.  Probably cookies or something. I also plan on writing a letter to the hospital administrator about the nurses on L&D and the NICU nurses.  They need to know what an amazing staff they have.

  • I planned on it, but with two babies at home and working part time, I have NO time.  We visit regularly though and stay well connected with the NICU team.

  • We brought a sheet cake for the whole staff that said "Thank You NICU".  I wanted to write individual notes to the nurses that meant the most to me but my husband thought it was inappropriate to single some out so I didn't do it.
  • We brought in baked goods once per week for our 10 weeks stay and on special occasions (on of the fellows completing her fellowship).  On discharge we gave gifts and cards to her primary nurses.  Each was different depending on their likes and dislikes ( one we got patriots stuff another wine).  We were very close with her primary day nurse and one of the neos who we still see socially two years later.

  • I bought a card and both DH and I signed it. I also got the entire NICU staff a pie. I think baked goods would be very nice, thank you.

  • We made about 300 cookies and my MIL also made a ton of angel zipper pulls.  I wore one the entire time I was hospitalized and it meant a lot to me.  We made a card and said something about the nurses and NICU staff being our DD's angels!
