team green nurseries

Sooo...we are almost pretty much (unless we cave @ u/s) set on staying team green. I want the nursery set though before the baby comes. I can't decide if I should do a yellow or green theme or to just paint sky blue and if it's a girl to add pink accents. I don't necessarily think a light blue screams baby boy if you add other "girly" items in after.

Anyone on team green thought about or have any pictures to share?

Re: team green nurseries

  • Personally, I think it is crazy to think that a baby needs gender represented at all, much less in a nursery. I am going team green to purposefully avoid and the pink and blue stuff. I am planning on green, blue, chocolate brown, all appropriate for a girl or boy. I guess I am a bit of a feminist or a hippie after all!

  • I highly recommend checking out HGTV.com 's gallery of nursery photos in the Rate My Space area (filter by the highest ranking ones to avoid the junk).  There are some very creative neutral themes, and some new takes on using "boy" colors in a girl's room, etc.

I want to find out the gender, but want the nursery mainly gender neutral, so we already have it painted "Plantation Moss" and am keeping artwork in a woodsy Beatrix Potter theme.  I plan on reusing the same nursery room and decor for future babies (we want 3-4 kids and this is #1).

  • I am Team green!!!! I found a bumble bee bed set that I absolutely love!!! It is yellow and green with white in it. I would like to paint the walls a pale yellow and can bring in pinks and purple or play up greens and blues after the baby comes

  • we are currently renting a former model home so it came decorated for the most part, currently our DD is in a sky blue room with a pink polka-dotted window valance.  The rest of our decor is a garden theme so I have lots of framed artwork of birds, butterflies and our crib bedding is green.  I think it works really well.  I have always loved blue and I don't think in light shades it screams boy.

I will see if I can hunt up some pictures for you... found one, it's not great it's was taken just after we moved in so no pictures up yet, but you can see the wall color and some of the accents.

I am painting the nursery 2 diff shades of beige, white chair railing, and light blue ceiling, I will be able to post some pictures next week

When they are bigger and go to their own rooms we will do girly or boyish rooms for them

  • We are team green and I have this really pretty black and white french toile rocking chair I was going to base it on.  Then when I started imagining it, I thought it was pretty girly.

    So I switched to this:

We will probably do the walls in the green with the dark brown furniture.  I know green is pretty cliche gender neutral, but green and brown were actually our wedding colors and I think I am still in love with them.

  • What about a nice green?

Pink and green can go great or blue and green are nice.

I agree light blue can go either way also. We're actually thinking about painting our nursery light blue if it's a girl and green if it's a boy.

My husband likes to refer back to the movie Juno when the color yellow comes up. No boys have yellow rooms. lol.

This, I am team green for exactly the same reason, I do not want all pink or all blue, if my child wants it later in life then thats fine, but I am going with neutral to begin with, even if we cave and find out the sex at the anatomy scan (which could happen as DH really wants to know), we will not be telling anyone that we know as I hate the trend for all pink/blue, I think I will go for green or blue as the main colour of the nursery as they are calming restfull colours, and the rest will depernd on the furniture/bedding as I don't think we will go for an all out theme, my mum is making a quilt for the baby, so this may also factor into the colour scheme Smile

That's really cute! Our guest room, which will become the nursery is already painted that shade of green, so I was thinking about doing a jungle theme, which would be fine for a boy or girl. I really like the greens and browns...

  • For my first child we were team green and I made her room like a baby block.  Each wall was a different color with a letter or number on it like a wooden block.  The bedding was handmade by my MIL and it was all pastel colors and the wall colors were matched to the colors that we chose for the bedding.  This time around we are team green again and the room is already a green as it belong to my 2 DD at the moment.  I will have to take the tinkerbell stickers off  but we are doing a bug type theme.  This is the bedding I found on clearance at BRU over the weekend.

  • We plan on finding out the gender, but are still keeping the nursery gender neutral. I have a hutch that I love that is going in there that's blue/green and then I bought a trunk at Pier 1 that was beat up and on great sale "as is", so I fixed it up and it's our jumping off point for color scheme. (Lime green, Sky blue, Orange-Red, and Brown). Sort of an earthy twist on primary colors is how I see it. We will be using as many items we already have (especially to decorate). Our sock monkey collection will move into the nursery, old art that I grew up with in my room, as well as handmade things. We are military living on base housing and therefore can't paint, so the walls will stay white, with draperies on the windows and replacing the closet doors with curtains as well to add color.

  • This definitely helps! Another reason I am glad to be team green is this is our first and I would love to have more, and the thought of redoing a nursery every couple years doesn't sound too appealing. Being team green kind of gets me out of that habit of choosing gender specific things, as well as gifts we are given.

  • I don't plan to find out either (unless we cave)...but am planning on either leaving the nursery tan (as-is) or painting it labrador blue (the blue from the stairwell in modern family). I am planning on the popdots bedding from Amazon, well the crib sheet, valance and bedskirt. But any of that could change anyday with the mood i'm in lol...as of now, that is the plan!

  • We are using the theme: Dr Seuss ABC's.  It is green, brown, red, and a few more colors.  Since we are team green, we can use it for # 2 and decorate #1's room with whatever they are into when they are 3ish...

  • The room is already painted a pale yellow. We planned ahead. :-) We are going with a star and moon theme. It is hard to find crib bedding but I found a cute one by Lambs & Ivy.
