Question about swaddling

Almost 3 month old DS seems to sleep "better" or at least longer, and more peacefully when swaddled. However, when he falls asleep in his car seat or swing and when he nurses and is completely relaxed, he always has his hands laying accross his stomach touching one another. Every time I'm in the process of swaddling him, he fights me a little, and keeps trying to put his hands together on his stomach. Even when he swaddled, I see him try so hard to get his hands to meet.

So I'm wondering if maybe I'm not doing the right thing, and if maybe I shouldn't force his arms to stay alongside his body, like I do when I swaddle him. However, the few times that I've tried to not swaddle him at all, he kept moving his arms and legs everywhere and had the hardest time falling asleep.

I don't know...I guess my question is, is it ok that he fights me when I swaddle him? Does that mean he doesn't like it?

Is it too unatural for a baby to sleep in such a "straight" position...arms on each side of the body, legs straigthened out....etc.

 Thank you!
