I have vented before about my BIL but jeez he is such a "psychology student". My daughter had a dance recital at school. It was very cute, the toddlers all learned these little dances and they came out in groups. So DD was in the first and youngest group and was not feeling great that day. She cried initially when she saw all the people and I comforted her and then left her up there and she didn't cry but she didn't really move the whole time (and she loves to dance and knows all the steps) just stared at the audience. . So whatever! I thought it was so cute and I videotaped it and I told her she did great and she watched it over and over and danced around to the music.
My BIL saw the video (which by the way is three and a half minutes long) and started pontificating about What is going on in her head? And was this a negative experience and basically acting like she was all traumatized. I hate the way he makes such a huge deal out of it. If she was upset she would have kept crying, I'm pretty sure. I don't know. I didn't want to be a super hover mom and go in and swoop her up.

AMEN.
You know your daughter. You know what was going on in her head (she was feeling under the weather and overwhelmed) and she's clearly NOT traumatized.
He can stuff it.
Not that you're concerned, but every kid I know that has ever been in a dance class has done the same thing.
I'm sorry that you have to put up with him.

Agreed. I did this at several dance recitals as a small girl and I know this because my parents stood back and took pictures of it.
I continued to love dance, and continued taking lessons until I realized finally that I do NOT have a dancers body when I hit puberty.
