What a day--update to "spotting :-/"

So...I woke up this morning with spotting--and it completely freaked me out. I called in sick to work and made an afternoon appt. Doctor did an ultrasound, saw a sac but no fetus. He said that there's really nothing he could say about it at this point--it could be too early (6 weeks) or it could not be a good pregnancy. I left with a 2 month supply of progesterone therapy even though he said he's not such a believer that it works. Also, I got my beta tested and it was 39,000. I don't know what to think right now. I will know for sure on Wednesday when I go back for Beta testing. I've had 2 previous losses and I really thought this one was the one...now I'm losing hope.  Sorry for the downer news...

Don't lose hope.  Your numbers are still really high and I have heard of so many women who have early spotting and everything turns out ok. Sending a ton of T&Ps your way!!

I'm worried about the not seeing a fetus or heartbeat.  But there's also a chance I could be off on my O date. Ugh, just trying to keep the hope but stay realistic at the same time. I swear, if this doesn't work out, we are taking a trip around the world.

  • So sorry. Hopefully you just are not as far along as you thought. Praying for you right now...

  • I had two losses before DD and when I was around 8 weeks with her I spotted and then had red bleeding. It was mostly just when I wiped but it freaked me the eff out. It turned out I had a subchorionic hematoma. It was small and harmless but OB did say it might cause more bleeding until it dissolved. I know spotting is scary and I'm sure even with my experience I would still freak out, but try to hold on. 6 weeks is very early to see a HB so I hope you have good news in a few days.

  • If it helps any, I've been spotting for bout a week now and have gone into the dr twice.  They don't seem too concerned with it as long as I don't have period like cramps or red bleeding.  I on the other hand am freaking out.  BUT just got my beta's back and they very nearly doubled (12k to 23k) so that helped put me at ease a bit. My dr said the only thing we can do is relax and rest as much as possible.  Hopefully things will work out and these will be our take home babies! If possible maybe try to get a few days off of work and rent some chic flicks to help you just relax?  Best Wishes! t & p!
  • Thanks--I'm leaving now for work--see how long I can make it...
