Success after IF

f/u - Talked to my OB and reassured (and thanks!)

Thanks so much for all the responses to my earlier freakout post (par for the course, right). I spoke to MY doc and feel much better.

On the fundal height, she agreed it's a surprising jump in a week but said it's likely a combo of baby's position, different docs measuring differently and that amniotic fluid levels peak around this time in pregnancy. BUT she said we can do an u/s at next week's appt to be safe and that there's no reason to do it sooner because nothing that we would be concerned about causing it (specifically, polyhydramnios) is anything we could do anything about in the next week or that would call for earlier delivery. She's not remotely concerned about late onset GD and said my urine samples would be spilling sugar if that was the case.

On ripeness for induction, she said that when she saw me last week, even though I was closed, I was already significantly effaced and that if she had tried she probably could have forced a finger in and made me 1 cm so she wasn't too concerned about progress towards induction, and that if I truly wasn't progressed they could open the cervix with a foley balloon before starting pitocin (she doesn't like cervidil because they can't control contractions, etc. that it may cause and they worry about fetal distress, as contrasted with pitocin which they can turn down/off).

So, feeling better. Not 100%, but better than earlier. Oh, and she gave me the ok to have sex to get cervix progressing. We haven't done it since this LO was conceived, and now the sheer physics of how to accomplish it at my size and with my level of discomfort are baffling, LOL. Wish me luck!

I missed your earlier post but am glad you're feeling better about things. Keep us updated!
  • I am so glad you got to talk to your OB!  I know my fundal height dropped about 4 weeks at the end due to positioning so it makes sense that it could go the other way.
So...if she's okay with sex to ripen you up...is she okay with raspberry leaf tea?  I drank tonnes of that stuff.

Baby girl is coming soon!  I hope you can get through the end of this without too much stress!  Good luck honey.

I was talking about meeting you last year (while I was at the GTG this year)...Remember how when I went outside because I was sick...you thought maybe I went out for a smoke?  LOL

Haha, I do remember that. I felt so bad that you got sick after traveling to be away from your cuties because I know how hard that was for you. I loved meeting you, so sad I couldn't come this year and see you again and meet the others...it looks like you all had a great time! I guess the be there or be talked about mantra held true, haha, hope you didn't tell everyone how lame I am. ;)

And thanks for the reassuring words re: the pregnancy stuff. She actually did mention the tea but b/c that's more for contractions than cervix I hesitate to use it now since I don't want active labor yet, just want my cervix to be ripe for labor when we induce.

So glad you had a reassuring conversation with your OB! I'm still keeping you and your little girl in my thoughts, though!

And when we talked about you this weekend, it was only about how awesome you are! (((hugs))) :)

  • Just got on for the night so I haven't seen your other post, but I'm so happy that things are still going strong for you.  Don't ever feel bad for calling your OB for anything!  I can't wait for you to meet your little girl!

  • Just got on for the first time today so I haven't seen your earlier post. So glad that your doc was able to reassure you! I'm thrilled that everything has gone as smoothly as it has. You're in the home stretch, lady!!! I'm just tickled PINK that you're going to be meeting your sweet girl soon! :)
  • I haven't seen you earlier post either, but so glad to hear everything is ok.  I can't believe it's almost time for your baby girl to arrive.  I'm sure it's not the same for you, but it sure seems like your pregnancy has gone quickly!  Can't wait to see what she looks like!

  • I'm glad your ob was able to ease your mind some. I don't know if you saw my response in your first post or not, but I was induced at 38 weeks. My dr said I was 1cm dilated but I think she was being generous! The day of my induction, I was started on pitocin at 7 am and had my baby at 244 pm! I think you will be just fine for the induction!

Thanks, I did see the response and it helps! I was induced @ 38 weeks with Toodle and all went smoothly for the most part, but I was at 2-3 cm by the time of induction. Fingers crossed!
