On Friday night around 10pm I started having a lot of low back pain. I've never had back labor before, but guessed that was it. An hour or two later I started having contractions and took a shower to see if that would slow them or if this was "it." Contractions continued and around 1am I started timing them. They were about 10 min apart at first, but quickly started coming faster and were all about a minute long. At 2am I paged the midwife on call and we agreed that I wouldn't go in yet (though my last labor was only 2 hours, start to finish), but that this was it and I'd page her back when I was headed to the hospital.

At 2:30 we called my parents to come over to stay here with our other two kids. They arrived around 3 and we left for the hospital at 3:30. When we got there they checked me and I was 8cm. Contractions were still regular and I was feeling a lot of them in my butt - I'm guessing that was back labor related because I knew it wasn't time to push yet. My midwife said that she could break my water if we wanted to speed things up because that was the only thing slowing things down at that point. I decided against it though because I knew contractions would intensify and I wasn't ready for that yet. At 5:20 I asked to be checked again and was at 10cm. Midwife said that the only thing keeping the baby in was that my water hadn't broken yet. I asked her to break my water and contractionsn were right on top of each other. By 5:30 I was pushing and Rebecca Irene was born at 5:35am on June 11. She weighed 7lb, 7oz and is 19.5" long. DH went home and got our other two kids and my parents to come visit the hospital yesterday morning. The big sisters were very cute with the new baby! We came home this morning and are glad to be home. I hate spending any more time than I have to in those awful hospital beds!
