Squishing the baby?

OK, so I know I'm probably just being way too paranoid, but I swear I feel like every time I bend over to grab laundry, tie my shoe or do anything where I have to bend at the waist I'm squishing my baby's head. He just feels like he's down so low and I can't imagine he has any room in there. I don't even like crossing my legs when I sit down. I feel like a crazy person, but I just don't want to hurt him. Anyone else dealing with this?

Re: Squishing the baby?

  • lol...sometimes that crosses my mind, but more of a joke and not as a serious concern....but rest assured, baby is well protected. Heck they will spend a couple of hours squished up in the birth canal and come out perfectly fine!

I know you're right. I'm just being a paranoid first-time mommy. Thanks for the reassurance. Smile

  • Oh ya, or sometimes when I am bending over to tie my shoes it is so uncomfortable and squished feeling that I think I am going to burst and start leaking fluid.  I know it is crazy but the thought still crosses my mind.  Indifferent

I wish I had stopped bending over so much while I was pregnant, and I also wish that I bought bigger jeans. My poor son was born with a crease down the length of his body because of my thoughtless ways!

You really should have been more careful.

  • It's only gotten more uncomfortable to bend at the waist to do anything since I was 33 wks.  I think baby is fine though; I'm still doing yoga and working out and my baby has been responding perfectly on his/her NST's and ultrasounds.   You can try squatting down instead of bending over; squats are good for labor, from what I've been told.

  • i get what you mean about this. i'm sure it's fine, though. i really hate bending over lately but i'm thinking that just makes me a little lazy. if i drop something at this point, it's dead to me.

Haha This is me! Yeah, I feel kind of weird sometimes getting out of bed in the morning because I'd feel a body part or something getting jammed. I tell myself that everything must be okay, but I'm not really sure what's going on in there. It just doesn't feel right.

  • it hurts me to do the things that you have mentioned ...plus rolling over in bed, sitting up ...etc

I sometimes feel like if it hurts me , he must be unvomfortable too

  • I was gardening yesterday and didn't have a choice to squat or bend so I began thinking about the same thing!  Just glad that I was able to get it all done so I don't have to worry about it any mroe!

  • hi everyone I had the same weird question, I like to sit indian style on my bed while working on my laptop, sometimes I feel like I'm squishing her? But she still moves and stuff so you think its ok? I'm 36 weeks and 3 days :)

Damn mobile bumping. This is begging for a "You must be new here" gif.

You will not squish your babies. If you're actually still able to bend over, more power to you.
