Cute diaper bags?

I've been trying to find a diaper bag that isn't tons of money (preferably around the $30-40ish range if possible), and doesn't look like a purse.  It seems it is the latest trend to have a diaper bag that just looks like a giant purse.  My problems with that are that I already have a big purse AND a laptop bag that also looks like a purse to carry, so I don't need a third one.  Lol.  And my husband will be carrying it around too.  He doesn't mind carrying one around that actually looks like it is for a baby (with animals or whatever on it), and I really don't want to go the route of getting a second diaper bag for him to carry that is "manly", since he doesn't mind carrying one that just doesn't look like a purse.  And my third reason is that, while some women use the diaper bag as their purse as well, I don't want to have to transfer all of my personal belongings out every time someone else has the baby.

So, any suggestions on a cute, inexpensive, durable diaper bag that has a babyish look to it?  Probably with some cute animals on it?  I am thinking about this one, but it didn't get very good reviews, so I am not sure if I will get it:

I love the elephants on it, and to me it still looks semi stylish too without looking like another purse.  Thanks for your help! =]

Re: Cute diaper bags?

  • hmm, what you're describing is completely NMS. but, that being said, i've seen a lot of these kind of diaper babgs at babies r us, or even target. and coming from a second time mom, personally i prefer just having my stuff in the diaper bag as well. i think it's a giant PITA to carry two bags, rather just have a little clutch, or area inside the diaper bag where i store my stuff. now that ds#1 is almost 2, i don't carry nearly as much diaper bag "stuff" around, so sometimes i'll just carry my handbag and a diaper clutch (pretty much the opposite of before), but still prefer just carry one bag around.

  • I was having this same issue, cause I have a 2yr & 9 yr old as well. So I wanted something that I can carry for my things, and their things, and still be a cool momma lol!! I couldn't find anything under $80 or so. I ended just getting a bag from Target that I am going to use as a diaper bag. Its actually quite huge, but with packing for my 3 girls and myself, I am sure it will come in handy!!! Try looking at bags other than "diaper bags" and you might have some luck there!!! GL!

  • I was picky because I didn't want a bag that was all blue and looked like it was for a baby but needed one large enough for twins and wanted something stylish. I wound up getting a Kalencom double buckle bag in "Ooh La La Kelly" off eBay for $49 including shipping. It's the exact bag I had picked out on Amazon.com for $80 and came with a matching clutch, insulated bottle holder, and fold-out changing pad. I'm really pleased with the condition of the bag and accessories and can't wait to use it!!

These are just a few that I found on Walmart's web site. They had a ton ranging from $10 to $350 (yes, $350). I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for or what will work for you.

DH and I have separate bags. I would prefer not to carry around a purse and diaper bag so mine is more like a purse. The only things I will need to take out when I leave the bag with my mom or MIL is my wallet, phone and keys (but I'm going to get a wristlet that all of that can fit in.

  • They're not in the price range you're looking for, but Ju-Ju-Be diaper bags are super cute and they don't look like regular purses: https://www.ju-ju-be.com. They're also really durable, and the I'd definitely recommend investing in a good diaper bag - you're going to end up hauling this thing around for years, and a cheap one is going to fall apart on you. I thought I'd carry my purse and a separate diaper bag, but it's just too much of a pain to carry 2 bags, baby, carseat, etc. I ended up putting a small clutch with my essentials (wallet, keys, cell phone) inside the diaper bag that I could remove and stick in my purse when I wasn't going out with DD.
  • SparkFish I just went to site you mentioned, and wondered which type of bag do you have? There seems like there are so many to choose from.

  • I just registered for an Eddie Bauer one, that was like $40 at Buy, Buy, Baby....not saying it's the cutest thing ever, but we will both use it and it has everything you could need :) I saw ones for $100 and I said nooooooo way! lol!

Granted, it's solid black (no fun animals or anything), but it has a lot of storage pockets and things that I really liked.

  • I'm thinking about getting THIS one.

Just for me of course. If DH wants to find a diaper bag that he likes, he can search for it himself.  Stick out tongue  Personally I don't think he will go out with LO on his own that much though... he works a lot so I'm guessing if he decides to take him somewhere he will just fill up one of the BAZILLION tote bags we already own and call it a day.

  • I have the BFF. I like it because you can wear it as a backpack or carry it as a messenger bag, depending on where you're going, what else you're carrying, etc. It's also a nice size - big enough to carry everything you need for a newborn (and I used cloth diapers with DD#1, which are bulky), but not so big that stuff gets lost in there.
  • I got one just like your link from Target on clearance for $14 it was normally $65. I would check them out!
