Anyone care to share how they met other moms to find more playdates for their little ones? I have a 1 year old and am looking to meet other moms. We do Gymboree once a week, but a lot of the times the kids in the group don't consistently come every week so I haven't been able to bond with another mom yet. We're in the Troy area. Thanks!
Re: Meeting other Moms?
I met a group on RaisingThem.com when DD was little that we still do Mom's night out & try to get together when possible, some of the gals I see alot & have become good friends. (just put in your area to find a group)
Also meetup.com has local mom groups.
I met other moms from a Moms group that meets at a local church by me, so maybe check out some churches to see if they have anything. The group by me was started by a few members from the church, but has branched out to anyone in the community that just wants to get together w/other moms for a few hours twice a month while our kids are watched.
Do you have a zoo membership? I'd love to get a group together to meet at the zoo one day.
I'm also interested in meeting other mom's. I have a 4 month old. I met a few people in a baby massage class, but it only lasted 4 weeks. I'm in the Canton area. I would love to meet other people and do outings once a week or so.
I will do a zoo outing soon! Just got my membership, woohoo. Although, I cannot make it through the whole zoo at this stage of my pregnancy--my feet just won't allow it. I was there two weeks ago for FOUR hours. I was in pain that night and the next day. But those of you that have toddlers/babies probably wouldn't do four hours anyway, right? I am probably just a masochist (sp?).
Also, what about baby and parent swim classes through the parks and rec dept? Troy Community Center has them year-round and the prices are very reasonable (much more so than Gymboree and the like).
I can do the zoo!
If you are in the Troy area, there is the Madison Heights/Troy Moms Club. I'm a member. If you want more info (we are a group of about 30 at-home moms who get together several days a week for playdates) send me a PM.
Public libraries have free storytime for different age groups on specific days. That is a great place to meet moms since the storytime you attend will have children in the same age range as your own. Also check out meetup.com there may be some mom groups in your area you can join.
I met a lot mom's in the area through Beaumont's Parenting Group program. I've also met mom's through Gymboree! Do you go in Birmingham? We go on Tuesdays and sometimes Fridays, but are actually canceling for the summer and doing swim lessons at Goldfish.
I joined a MOMs club in my area (Oxford) and have met Moms that way. Some churches have MOPs groups, and like a PP said there's meetup.
Looks like there isn't a Troy MOMs club listed https://www.momsclub.org/links.html but the Madison Heights one takes women from Troy (if you're close to there). https://www.momsclubmh.com/

I was with my niece and nephew, and they had to see it ALL.
I would like some info! I live in Madison Heights. I work in a school, and have many mom that way. I too would like to meet up for a Zoo outing.

You have other moms you hang out with besides me?! I feel so betrayed!
Mostly lurk on this board but thought I'd put this out there.
meetup.com is a great site to find any sort of group- playgroup or whatever.
I'm currently looking for a playgroup for my boys too.
I'm in Canton- I can say that the library is great for activities. They have play areas and some scheduled play/activity times on a daily basis.
We just went to the zoo today, second time for us, and we spent 4 hours both times! Today we could have done longer, but they closed early. My kids love it.
