New to Pregnancy Qs...

I called my OB yesterday to announce my BFP and she made an appointment for me to see her on June 21st... so here are my questions:

Is it normal to not have b/w done to confirm the BFP?  I hear a lot about Betas, but she mentioned not needing to see me until June 21.

What can I expect on the 21st?

Taking Charge of Your Fertility was my TTC Bible. What do you suggest for the next phase?

I'm cramping and have a backache that goes and comes... no spotting or anything.  Does that all sound right?

  • Try What to Expect When You're Expecting.  Also, DH and I have picked up the book Pregnancy Day by Day, which is pretty awesome...it shows you what your embryo is doing everyday.

  • It is normal not to have betas done.  I think only people who are high risk have them done.  Most people don't have a first appointment until around 8 weeks.

I had cramping for most of this week (I was 3 weeks and 4 days on Monday).  The backache sounds normal too.  How far along are you?

Becky's book suggestions sound good.  I might have to go find the Day by Day book!

  • usually betas are only done if there is IF issues or history of cp, misscarriages ect.

What to expect when your excpeting is a good read.

cramping and backache is normal, mine just started easing up the last couple of days...

Is it normal to not have b/w done to confirm the BFP?  I hear a lot about Betas, but she mentioned not needing to see me until June 21.  Yes completely normal.  People who get betas often were getting fertility treatment or have a history of m/c.  Most OBs will meet with you between 8-10 weeks.  Some meet earlier around 6 weeks (mine does) if you would like it.

What can I expect on the 21st? If it is like my appt they do a confirmation pee test, pap, and short check in.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility was my TTC Bible. What do you suggest for the next phase?  I read what to expect when you are expecting when I was pregnant with DS.  It's okay.

I'm cramping and have a backache that goes and comes... no spotting or anything.  Does that all sound right?  Yup.  I have cramps alot too.

  • I have low backpain and cramping too and read that this is part of the "implantation" process where the little cells are implanting into our uterus at the very very beginging 5 weeks and less I think part of the pregnancy.  Does anyone else know about this?
