Morning!
The experienced mommys will probably roll their eyes at this post, but I just shared this info as a response to another post and thought it might help others...
Like many of us (I'm guessing, from reading the boards) I am totally worry-ridden and anxious that everything goes smoothly for my first tri of my first pregnancy. When we decided that we would start TTC in May, my DH surprised me in April with the whole collection of the "What to Expect" books. Now that I've pulled them off the shelf to start reading through, I've found that WTEWYE is downright scary at times. Reading it sometimes makes me worry more about all the things that can go wrong during this crucial first tri. So...just wanted to share what I've been doing to combat this in case others are in the same boat. (Are you??? Please share...)
Instead of reading WTEWYE right now, I'm focusing on its sister book, "What to Eat When You're Expecting" because it makes me feel like I'm satisfying my research urges, while being productive and not scary. We all need to eat well right now, so it's much more calming to settle in and read about why fiber helps an embryo grow-- rather than etopic pregancies, CPs and miscarriages. Also, I just bought this month's Fit Pregnancy magazine and am enjoying revelling in the fact that I'm pregnant by reading about cool maternity clothes, comforting stretches and little stories about enjoying the summer while with child. Lastly, the (very smart) advertisers have filled the mag with all sorts of pretty pictures of cool strollers, baby toys, bottles-- and not to mention adorable babies (yes, I'm a shameless baby stalker right now), so it really helps me visualize a happy and healthy end result, rather than scare myself about all that can go wrong right now.
Just my inexperienced two cents, but figured if it's helping me calm down and think positive, maybe it will help someone else beat the anxiety and worry...
Happy Friday!

I really think this is a great idea! I'm going to go get the What to Eat book this weekend. Thanks for the advice!

THIS!
I agree, great plan!!! I feel like a kid at Christmas because the days are going by so slowly!!!! I have already had one MC so I am trying not to freak out about everything!!!
I had also heard "Belly Laughs" was a good book, so I will pick up both for some weekend reading
I love this idea! I am also reading "What to Eat" right now. Being the control freak I am, I actually made myself a spreadsheet to track my food intake in all of the categories in her pregnancy daily dozen. I'm willing to share if anyone wants it!
p.s. I also recommend Belly Laughs. I read it one day on the train back and forth to work. At times, I laughed so hard that I was crying.
Thanks for the tips! I am on the book hunt now and definitely getting a little nervous as a first timer with all of the things that can go wrong. I will steer clear of WTEWYE and look for What to Eat and Belly Laughs!
sgraves06, I would love your spreadsheet if you don't mind sharing :-)
Of course! PM me your email address and I will send it!
