That is unbelievable to me!

Why is it is so unbelievable? Is it as unbelievable as people believing in God and Jesus? Allah? Budda? For Christians & Jews the book of Genesis is God's word. That is how the world was created. Granted, I don't know how he went about it - perhaps it was all the Big Bag but God was the one who orchestrated it. I personally believe Eve was created from Adam. Am I BSC and believe I was made from my husbands rib? PSHHH!

It does sound totally sy-fy

I was completely prepared to ignore this post and move on thinking it was from an atheist and I wouldn't honestly bother to engage a person who doesn't believe. But to read this from a Catholic turns my stomache and makes me wish you bothered to learn understand and embrace what you're claiming to be!

I don't see the need for anyone to justify their beliefs as long as they aren't harming anyone in the name of that religion.

I love this, but I'm pretty sure it only works for Catholics. Not all Christian denominations believe in the Immaculate Conception; which is, of course, the belief that Mary was the only person to be conceived without original sin. (Jesus was not conceived at all, his birth was the incarnation. Look it up if you think I'm wrong)

I am curious about that though. Why do you choose to identify as a catholic if you don't believe in what catholics believe in? I just wonder because I have other friends who identify as catholics as well and do not observe, or really even believe, a majority of what the denomination stands for. Could you not choose to identify merely as a "christian" and not specifically as a catholic, thus not having the burden of explaining away the parts of the denomination you don't believe?

Well,we cannot all be pious, virtuous Christians like you! You certainly made Jesus proud. Which Gospel is it in which Christ said, "You make me sick"? Please refresh my memory. I was not as well taught as you.

There is also the possibility that she is, you know, a critical- thinking Catholic. Crazy, but they do exist somewhere outside of the confines of your ass in which your head is so stuck.

I really question the intelligence of people who can't take a step back and think critically about what they stand for. I also question the intelligence of those who think that just because someone doesn't fit in a cookie-cutter religious freak mold that they are some how less of a human.

So do all you literal bible believers live in a tent when dear AF comes to town? Are you deemed unclean by your husbands?

The bible was written by MAN thousands of years ago and has been translated and interpreted numerous times. For any of you to believe that the bible you read today in English is exactly what it said when it was first penned is absolutely naive. It's the longest game of "telephone" ever.

FTR, I consider myself a Christian.

You'd have a hayday with me then Kelly, I'm Lutheran, but it doesn't mean that I buy everything that they are selling. You are allowed to have your own beliefs and still belong to a church. And believe it or not, but on occassion I worship at a Catholic Church, and I haven't been struck dead or stoned yet.

I believe he really really was 700 years old.

Or who says a year was 365 days? If a year then was close to a month now, he'd be 58 years old. his wife would have been somewhere in her 50s as well. that is quite old to concieve, but not impossible.

I was raised Catholic, not blind, deaf and without brain cells. I am allowed to question faith. If I was content to just follow blindly then I would just join a cult instead.

And I consider those that discount darwinism, evolution, anything scientifically proven on par as those cult nutters.

It's symbolism people. The whole creation story is symbolism. God is the maker, we should believe in him and know that he is God...that's all you're supposed to get out of it, not that he actually created the Earth in seven days or created woman from man's rib.
