DD getting sunburn in convertible carseat!?!?!?

I think DD is getting sunburned in her convertible carseat.  Her cheeks look like they have a red rash, like a burn.

Has this happened to anyone else?  We have a britax marathon if that makes any difference.

I found this and was wondering what you all think of this:

do you think it would be safe?

  • we just use a regular suction-cup sunshade on the window.

  • I would get a window tint thing.
  • I would rather put some sort of shade on the window instead of the carseat.  I didn't look around the website too much but I doubt those have been tested.
  • I have not seen sunburn...but another possible cause would be if she isteething and/or drooling alot. DS's cheeks have been red off and on for several months because of drool. The pedi recommended using Lanolin on his  chapped cheeks.

  • I already have the suction things.  They just don't cover enough space.  And the window size is really weird on my car.  I've tried everything.   I look back there and I see the sun just beating down on her face and she squints like crazy and then starts to cry Sad

do you ladies have any other suggestions for me?  I currently have my windows tinted, and the suction thing on the back window and the side window.  I've tried the plastic stick on stuff and it doesn't work, its cheap and falls off (sold at BRU)

  • I have the really big tinted things but it still didn't work this summer.  That is why Harm has a leg tan Stick out tongue

  • put sunscreen on daily if you already have the other stuff.  I would be hesitant to add anything to a car seat that hasn't been tested.
  • Sunscreen - ti should be worn year round even if you are just in the car.  I alwasy put it on my girls if we are in the car for longer than the less than 5 min drive to daycare if we are going to be out and about in the car and stuff.  It only takes a second to put it on their faces and I do it while I am getting them dressed in the morning and again later on if needed - before we go out.  I alwasy keep the sunscreen in my bag.

  • Do you have a mirror that you can look into to see what he is doing from the front seat?  When we had our car seat inspected, they told us to be careful and make sure the sun was not shining on our DS through the mirror, becuase it too can cause a sunburn.
