Awful Yeast Infection!! *TMI*

Ugh, so I have been dealing with a terrible yeast infection for 2 weeks now. My doctor gave me Diflucan, and it helped for a few days, but then my yeast infection came back worse than ever!

Now she doesn't want to give me more Diflucan and told me to just put monistat around the area (but not inside my actual vagina) and it's not helping a damn thing.

If you have had a PP yeast infection, what did you do to get rid of it? Im in so much pain, i'd rather give birth again than deal with this.

  • I have already had 2 cycles of Diflucan and unfortunately now getting another yeast infection! I am trying to eat a lot of yogurt (my midwife told me a few weeks ago I should be eating 1 a day postpartum but I haven't in about a week). I delivered 5/6. I also had consistent yeast infection issues in 2nd and 3rd trimester though.

Man it really sucks huh? I am sorry you're going through it too. What kind of yogurt are you eating?

We've been battling a yeast diaper rash on DS since he was 3 days old. I finally got it under control (I hope!), but I've added probiotic supplements to my diet. I'm taking Acidophilus which helps fight yeast in my system...it may be worth a shot for you. I found it at Whole Foods. They had boxes of yeast cleansers too. Kind of expensive, but it would be worth it to get rid of an awful yeast infection! Hope that helps!

  • I'm right there with ya!

I just got a one dose of some kind of meds for it. It wasn't Diflucan, I'm not sure what it's called, but it worked and seems to have solved the problem. It's been about 5 days since taking the pill and I don't feel like it's coming back.

She didn't say any specific yogurt so I have just been eating regular yogurt. I am sure any yogurt will help. Good luck!

I feel like it was approximately $13 for the bottle...I don't remember exactly though. It's kept in the refrigerated probiotic section. Good luck!

  • Go buy PLAIN ORGANIC YOGURT (about $4) and PREBIOTIC POWDER/PiLLS (about $12 for the pills i got).

Mix a little yogurt with prebiotics and let it sit (in the fridge) over night. Fill a 5ml syringe (NO NEEDLE, the kind that come with baby cough syrup) with the mixture and put it in your vagina. I know this sounds nasty but it really isn't. Lay down for a few minutes (to keep the yogurt in there) and when you're done just rinse the outside with water.

I got my first ever yeast infection (I'm 25 and in my 1st pregnancy) two weeks ago and didn't want to use monistat or any chemical. That yogurt took away all the annoying itching, burning and discomfort within ONE day. Give it a try and I hope you feel better.

BTW, I also changed my diet a little bit, I stopped eating sugar (yeast feeds on sugar) and yeasty foods for the next couple of weeks, lots of water and included plain yogurt in my diet as well. Cool
