ok bachelorette - let's talk about bentley in tonight's show

I don't get it.  He made it sound all along like he had this grand scheme to make her like him so he could "win".  Then he decided his "scam" was to leave early and said no one had ever completely snowed everyone before (um, hello?  Wes??).   And then he said he was bummed it wasn't Emily and he just wasn't feeling it for Ashley so he had to leave.  But then he was all proud of himself for making Ashley believe he was leaving for his daughter?  Is he just a complete psychopath?  I think he must be seriously deranged.

And anyway, why did she like him at all to begin with?  He sounds like he's stoned.  He says "like, um, like" all the time.  He doesn't even complete sentences.  He's got no personality.  He is not as cute as half of the other guys there.

and then.  WTF?  He thought well maybe he could have sex with her quick before he left because she wrapped her legs around him?  He's a scum bag.

Does anyone have any inside scoop on his motivation in all of this?  Does he have a history of being criminally insane?

I do still have 40 minutes of the show left... but I'm assuming he's not going to pull some *** and show back up at the rose ceremony.

  • I will spoil you enough to tell you I don't believe he'll be back for the rose ceremony.

    Other than that, I have NO idea.  I have heard he is LDS.  If he is, he's not a practicing member of his church, that much is for sure....his bishop would have his head for his behavior!

    I'll go see what I can dig up that won't spoil the rest of the season for you, Jill.

    [Edit]: The final rose ceremony, that is.

  • I just skimmed through reality steve.  I won't give you any info other than on Bentely.  He is from Utah and a strict mormon, he never drank while he was there, and even in photos of him holding champagne his face with basically blocked out.  He was a complete gimmick produced by ABC.  So before we get all on the douche's case remember that editing is a wonderful thing.  Do I think he went on there for the wrong reasons? Yes, do I think what he did to Ashley was wrong? Hell yeah.  I'm sure he probably got paid by ABC to do some of the things he did.  And plus he did leave 3 shows in, unlike the last douche in Alli's season that stayed until the final 3.  I'm in now way defending the guy, but getting mad about it is silly since this is all a show put on by ABC.  In other words...it's not "real".

    This. This is why I can't watch the show and only follow the spoilers - it's such a huge editing manipulation.  Abc wanted to get everyone all in a tizzy. My other two cents are that I think the advent of the Bachelor Pad is a bad idea because a lot of people are going on the the Bachelor/ette in order to spark up drama/make a name for themselves so that they can get asked to come back on the Bachelor Pad. If the bachelor serious wasn't viewed as a career launcher before, it most certainly is now.

  • Oh I'm not mad. And I figured it had to be planted somehow. It was all too convenient that he wAs such an ass and just happened to know an ex contestant who just happened to warn Ashley. I just don't get the point. It was annoying not entertaining. And I don't know what he was trying to accomplish. Just random meanness? Did he really think he'd be a nice guy if it had been Emily? And I'm sorry no way was it just editing that made him look like an ass. He said super mean things. But the bigger issue is why on earth would Ashley have liked him? There was nothing redeeming about him.

  • Jill -

     I c&p'd this from Reality Steve and edited out stuff that would spoil you for other thigns.

     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    So yesterday I tweeted and posted on Facebook that I had some info regarding some behind the scenes stuff regarding the Bentley situation that you all should know about. I?m sorry, but for the time being, I?m gonna have to hold off on that. The ridiculousness of this situation is reaching such epic levels of proportions (that sentence just sounded cool), that I need more time on this. So I apologize for tweeting that yesterday, then not following through today, but yesterday was kind of a whirlwind and I guess I sent out my first ?emotional? tweet. Got caught up in the moment and didn?t realize the magnitude of what we?re dealing with here. I cannot get into detail just yet, but I can tell you that (not that you didn?t already know this), this show is SOOOOO shady, it?s disgusting. And what you?re seeing on TV is definitely not the full story. Sure, Bentley said all that stuff in his ITM?s, although I?m sure a couple of those things were spliced up, but for the most part, he dug his own grave by what he said. I?m not defending Bentley at all, and his life will probably never be the same again after saying the things he said on this show.
    I guess I just look at the show a little differently than 99% of their audience. Pretty much everyone who watches this show, their immediate reaction when watching Bentley is, ?What an ass. What?s his deal? I can?t stand him. He shouldn?t even be on the show? etc. Trust me. Just go on Twitter or Facebook after either of the first two episodes and look what people are commenting on. It?s 90% Bentley. And you have every right to think that. My mind just works a little differently. When I see people like Bentley, and in past seasons the Wes?, the Regos, the Rozlyns, my immediate reaction is, ?Ok, what?s the real story behind this?. I don?t let what those people say and do get under my skin. I try and find out what truly is going on. Sometimes I find out, sometimes I don?t. But I?m very much an over analyzer, and I know how ridiculously manipulative and fake this show can be, so I like looking for more answers. There?s definitely more than meets the eye to the Bentley story, I just want to make sure I have everything in order before I present it.
    So enjoy Bentleys antics in the meantime, I?m sure all of you will be screaming at your television on Monday night after he leaves, because apparently things he says and does on Monday, it makes what he did in the first two episodes seem harmless. It?s just so hypocritical of the show to sit back and crucify Bentley publicly now, by saying he?s the worst contestant they?ve ever had (Chris Harrison called him disgusting) but yet in the same breath, they are using him to promote the show on Monday. Anyone else see the irony in that? Don?t believe a word Chris Harrison or ABC is putting out about their hatred for Bentley. Privately, they are eating up every second of it, they love the interest his character is generating, and by all means, could not care less about the things he said about Ashley. Publicly they have to pretend they do. Privately? Please. They love this. Bentley is TV gold to them.
    He?s a jackass for saying the stuff he did, but for the show to act like they couldn?t have stepped in and stopped this, and kicked him off the show themselves, or gone to Ashley and showed her his ITM?s and what he saying behind her back, shows you how hypocritical they are. ?It?s not our job. We need to let Ashley figure this out on her own. Everything is in Ashley?s hands.? Such BS. Then don?t promote him like you are. Doesn?t this basically show that they don?t give a sh** about Ashley either? So she?s your lead character in the show, the one who?s here to find a husband, you can clearly see that Bentley is acting one way towards her when he?s with her, yet trashing her behind her back in his ITM?s, and you don?t think it?s your job to inform her? You don?t think you should step in and say something? You think by saying, ?It?s her journey, she needs to find this out on her own? is an honorable answer? Ha ha. That?s laughable. It?s just proof the show absolutely loves what Bentley is doing. Think people. If they truly cared about Ashley?s feelings, they never would?ve let it get to this point. They knew what footage they had on film of Bentley saying things behind her back, yet purposely kept it from Ashley because they wanted it to play out for TV sake.
    If you didn?t read Chris Harrisons conference call with the media this week, you can read the summary here. One thing I think that was clarified in this conference call, is now we know <EDITED>
     I guess the reasoning he gives Monday night for leaving doesn?t sit well with her, and three episodes later, Bentley is still on her mind, <EDITED>  Yet another reason this makes the show hypocritical. <EDITED>  If Bentley is the devil like you?re claiming he is, and he was ruining Ashley in his ITM?s with some of the rudest, most condescending things anyone has ever said about anyone on this show, why not step in and say, ?No. <EDITED> Sorry. This guy is a jerk, he treated you like crap, and we?re done with him.? No different than them promoting him for Monday?s episode, no different than him being the talk of the season so far, and no different than them counting the days until the ?Men Tell All? where they can have him back on again. This whole situation reeks of hypocrisy, and I just hope some of you out there are intelligent enough to see it. Bentley is no doubt to blame, because he could?ve avoided all this by not coming on the show in the first place, but the show is just as bad for knowing what they knew, and not saying anything.
  • What I can't understand is why anyone with a DAUGHTER would talk about women that way.  How will he feel when his daughter watches what he says?  When her friends say something to her at school?  When she ends up with a string of guys that use, abuse, and dump her because that's what her daddy taught her guys do?
    Gimmick or not, there is definitely something "real" about this guy's behavior.  And it's despicable.
  • hmmm I guess I hadn't even thought about how ABC could have stepped in to kick him off.  And really, that is super mean of them.  Remember how crushed Emily was by watching Brad loving on other girls after the fact?  Imagine how crushed Ashley is going to be after she "gets" to watch this train wreck.  It makes her look like an imbecile for sure and it will be awful for her to hear him be so mean.
    Still though - why on earth did she 'fall in love' with him so early on?  I don't even think she had had a one on one date with him yet?  I think the only reason she liked him at all was that she was told not to.  which makes her an idiot too.    And really, if she was that sure he was the "winner" after 2 episodes and now he's gone, she should just tell ABC she's done.
    I still don't get why Bentley thought he was pulling something on her by saying he needed to leave because of his daughter and stringing her along more.  If he really just wanted to f*ck with her mind more and make her cry more, then he really is just a disgusting human.  ANd yeah, the fact that he's a father to a daughter - I hope no one ever treats his daughter like he is treating Ashley.
    I know a woman who's a psychologist at a prison and she said he sounded exactly like some of the inmates she knows.
  • oh and nykola - yeah, the Bachelor Pad will definitely "breed" people who want to keep making it "big" on reality tv. gross.
    First off she is kind of desperate IMO and maybe that's why her feelings moved so quickly with Bentley.  I also think she kind of likes the "bad" boy and he came off even with her around as someone that didn't really care all that much.  To her that came off as "real".  Which is funny since he was so far from being real to her.  But I agree with you Jill, if she was so "IN LOVE" with him then why even bother finishing out the show.  Then again she's probably under contract.  So she has to at least finish it out but not pick anyone.  Frankly I find her annoying.  And I think ABC kind of lost out on rating because now most of the Drama is over only on the 3rd show.  Maybe Bentley told ABC to shove it and didn't want to be the "bad" guy the entire season like wes and the other dude in Alli's season...Oh wait she had 2.  Poor girl.
  • Yes desperate and stupid.  And annoying.  She is definitely not my favorite.  I'm so damn sick of her doing her "dancing" every episode.  Please please please make that stop!
    If they really wanted this show to be "real" they would let them help screen the contestants before the show started - like do an eharmony thing or something.   And they wouldn't make a big deal if they didn't want to choose either of the final ones.  I never understood why Brad got suck flak for not picking.  To me, if it were "real", more of them would get to the end and say "yeah, not so much."
