Hi guys!
I have been successful at pumping (struggling with breast feeding) but trying my hardest. The pedi told me no cows milk if I am going to give the baby breast milk. Have you heard of this?
Also, do you know if it is safe to whiten your teeth while feeding? Even just the Crest strips?
Lastly, can you reco your sleep sack?
Re: Breast milk and sleep sacks...questions :)
We have several of the Swaddle Me sleep sacks/swaddles and they've worked great for us.
I don't know why you wouldn't be able to drink cow's milk while BFing. Does your LO have a sensitivity to milk? I know most people don't have any issue with dairy in their diet unless LO has a sensitivity.
I don't know if it's safe to use white strips- I would assume do though.
This. I am using the 100% cotton one right now and it is the perfect weight for summer. Check your local goodwill/salvation army. I found one there for $2.50
I haven't heard not to drink cow's milk...maybe the pedi meant no cows milk for baby? But baby shouldn't have cow's milk yet anyways...maybe call and ask for clarification, that seems odd.
No idea about the whitestrips, maybe some at LLL or an LC would know. Jump on the LLL forums and check with them.
I have been using the miracle blanket because DD is growing out of her swaddleme's. I like that because I don't have to use an extra blanket to swaddle her arms in. And it's nice and lightweight for the summer. You'll want to find the escape proof swaddle method to fully understand how the miracle blanket works. I know someone on here has a link in their siggy, but can't remember who.
I have had that problem with cow's milk.
my husband is very sensative and has some allergies that have shown up in his family at least as far back as his grandfather. In my case the doctors actually told me -not- to stop drinking it. i did out of my own choice and the problems i was having with LO went away.
The problem was phlegmy mucus in the throat that was difficult if not impossible to burp. we need to use the little hospital thing to get it out of the back of her throat all the time whenever i had milk. It was a similar reaction to my husband and milk. It cleared up quickly (couple hours, maybe 6 max) if i did not drink milk. there was no more of the one chemical left in my blood stream so it was gone from my breastmilk.
If i remember correctly it happens because there is a higher level of something in cows milk than in breast milk. all babies are exposed to lower levels of this in their mothers milk and normally the increased level does not bother them. however, the chemical 'forces' itself into the breast milk to ...basically balance out. this increases the level of that chemical in the breast milk and agitates the allergy in a sensative baby.
i had to make sure during that time i was good still taking my prenatal vitamin and i was also taking additional calcium supplements to make sure i didn't lose to much of that from my own body.
good luck
blanket statement on the cows milk. I was told I am fine to drink it unless she shows up with some reactions that we would cut out dairy, so far so good.
the crest strips I am not sure about and If your gums are still sensitive I would say no.
I swaddle with swaddle blankets and sometimes the sleep sacs by summer infant. the summer infants are on clearance right now at BRU and in many fabrics (thin and thick) and sizes. I would buy a few in different sizes and fabrics. try one of them out and if your little one likes it then keep the others if not bring them back, and yes BRU will take back the one you tried out as long as it is clean.
someone had a link in their siggy on how to swaddle from you tube. it totally worked.
I like the halo and aden and anais sleep sacks.
I have never heard that breastfeeding moms should not drink cow's milk as a general rule. I know some moms have had to eliminate dairy from their diet, but that was only after lo displayed some kind of problem.
