? about "sprinkle" and diaper requests

My church is throwing a sprinkle for me (a smaller shower, since this is my 2nd). They do it for everyone, and it's potluck at the church so not a huge hassle. I told them I wanted to minimize gift requests and just do a celebration, but they insisted on getting a list of items I need b/c they know people will buy gifts no matter what. 

So, I need some diapers. I really prefer the chlorine free ones but I know they are more expensive and not as easy to find as regular ones. I feel kind of selfish putting those on my list, but I really would be more comfortable using them and I'm not sure if I could return the other kind. 

WDYT?

    What if you did gift cards... that way you can buy the diapers you want. My mom threw us a shower a couple weeks ago, and I told her to let everyone know if they didn't know what to get us, then give us gift cards. We got almost $300 in gift cards and I got to buy the things that I wanted for baby...instead of returning a bunch of stuff..

    I will put gift cards on the list, but a lot of people like to buy actual items and wrap them up real cute, etc. so they want me to put some items on the list as well.

    I would just put the specific brand of diapers on the list. If they buy them, they buy them. You'd likely get a bunch of regular diapers anyway if you didn't say anything at all, so at least this decreases the chance that you'll get all diapers that you don't like, right?

    I will the last of FIVE moms in my mothers' group to have a baby this year so I have been to a ton of sprinkles recently and I really wanted to know exactly what they wanted! We don't have a ton of money but I made sure to get something that would really help them. So I say be honest and put down the brand you want to use with your baby. If that is too expensive for some of the givers, they will happily either choose something they can afford or will give you a gift card in an amount they can swing.

    Obviously you can skip the Coach diaper bag on the list, but really people want to please you and know that you will be happy to use what they give you so do choose, honestly, some things you truly need.

    on my BBB registry there was a note about me requesting the seventh generation brand or other organic/chlorine free and i got 2 packs of those and about 10 packs of other brands w/ chemicals and dyes. Hopefully it works better for you!
