I made it through this pregnancy without getting a cold/sinus infection until now but my luck has run out. I feel awful, plus with all the drainage I am also very nauseous and I can't get comfortable to sleep very long. I am going to call my dr today to find out what I can take if I absolutely have too, but I am really trying not to take anything unless necessary. What have you all taken to at least feel better for a while? I have a feeling this is going to have to run its course, but I as hoping to find something to make it at least bearable.
TIA!
Re: I have a cold and I can't sleep
I had a sinus cold or infection earlier this pregnancy and it totally sucked! It hurt soooo bad. I finally gave in and took Sudafed. It went away after 3-4 days. I also ran a wash cloth under hot water, laid down and put it on my forehead/nose over and over again.
If I wasn't such a baby about putting things in my nose, I would have used a neti pot to drain it all out. I am such a wimp though....I can't even stand spraying nose stuff in there either.
I hope it ends fast for you!!!! I know it is miserable.
i'm just getting over a something today...i tried for the first few days not to take anything, but caved. i called my doctor and he said to take ALL of the following:
robitussin (alcohol free)
tylenol
cough drops
benadryl every 4-6 hours
and he gave me an antibiotic...
still took me 7 days to get over it. i even did the neti-pot 5-6 times a day. (i thought that would be great, but ended up with tons of water in my ear canals, making it way worse). it sucked to sweat, but when i finally turned off the a/c, i could breathe a bit better. definitely drink lots of water, it should help with the nausea...and gargle with salt water if you get a sore throat from the drips.
doc said the taking the meds would be much better than being sick for an extended period of time.
hope you feel better soon!!
Lots of vicks - on your feet, nose, throat, chest & vicks steam in a vaporizer
Cough drops
Hot tea
Tylenol
You can take Robitussin if you have a cough.
Hope you feel better!
