Blackout curtains

Where did you get your blackout curtains/drapes?  Hopefully I can find something instore, but if I have to order offline that isnt really a big deal other than I'd like to see the color in person.

Also I must be curtain stupid because all the ones I'm seeing online look ginormas for my normal sized windows.  Is it common for the curtains to be double in width to allow for the folding/fullness/pleats of the curtain?

Re: Blackout curtains

  • I got mine at PBK.  And yes, it's normal to double the width so they still have pleats when you close them.  I don't pay attention to the width so much, I look at the length to make sure they are long enough.

  • I saw some at Target that were not too expensive. I haven't gotten any yet, but might soon. I want to stop the 6 a.m. wakeup calls!

  • I got mine at BBB, I got plain white ones and then added sheer white w/pink polka dot curtains on top.  Walmart also had some.

  • I got mine at Target.  I've seen them at Walmart and KMart as well.  Those stores had them in 2 different lengths.
  • I also find ones at Target, very inexpensive and does a great job keeping the light out.
  • I got the ones we have up in DD's room at Target, they work great and are cute.
