I live in Montgomery county and the guidelines for entrance to kindergarten here are five by September 1st. My oldest son will be five on September 5th of next year. I know you can apply for a waiver for birthdays up to October 15th but I've heard its very tough to get a child approved for early kindergarten entrance. Anyone have experience with doing a waiver for early kindergarten entrance in Montgomery county?
Re: Montgomery county early entrance to kindergarten
I have not been through this experience personally as my LO is clearly too young. However, I have a really good friend who is a kindie teacher in MoCo and has to test kids for this early entrance. I know that she thinks the test is very rigorous and even some fairly bright kids won't "pass."
(FWIW, gaining a year socially is a huge advantage IMO.)
