chicco keyfit 30

Does anyone have concerns about how their LO's head/chin position is in the chicco keyfit 30?  DD is about 6 lbs... and I don't like how her head is pushed forward and chin very close to her neck. I'm using both the infant insert and infant headrest, but thinking about taking out the headrest. Am interested to see if anyone has concerns along this front.

thanks

  • Max was 8 lb 2 oz at birth, 9-8 now at. 7 weeks- I've always been a little concerned about hoe his chin sits on his chest, but he's always been fine- we drove 7 hours the other day. I use the insert still. Not sure when to take it out...ive never put him in another carseat so I don't know if it's this seat only?

if you take out the head supporter his head will flop side to side,  I took out Olivia;s this morning and will be putting it back in due to the head flopping.  The bottom section there was no problem just had to tighten the straps.

  • I thought I was the only one.  Before I bought the whole travel system I researched the snot out of it and it was so highly rated and I do like the ease of the whole thing, but I don't like the way DD looks in the seat.  The last 2 weeks she screams her head off as soon as I put her in it.  She is 11lbs now so I took the newborn insert out, but left the head portion in.

I'm trying to convince DH to look at a Britax convertible because it looks like LO would sit more upright.

  • I've found some suggestions online about removing the headsupport and using rolled up receiving blankets for support, Links are below, Am also going to try to find out what a certified car seat person thinks

  • I was worried about this too.  Our son was in the NICU for 7 weeks, and always very sensitive with his positioning, having heart rate drops if his chin was to his chest for any long amount of time.  When we left the hospital he was just over 5lbs.  Luckily he didn't have any issues with his positioning in this car seat.

He's now almost 10lbs and has done fine with it.  You can try pulling the head positioner piece farther down, so that it supports his shoulders and head/neck, instead of just his head/neck.  That's what we did.
