Re: Would you let your MIL... (long)

  • No, and it has not much to do with your feeling toward MIL, it's that he id three and that is far too long in a car for a child of that age. Not only that bit have you considered how he might feel after the baby comes? If he gets jealous or is having trouble adjusting and then he is "sent" away with grandma while the new baby gets you all to his/herself might not go oververy well and he may see it as a punishment of sorts. I'm hyper sensitive to how my DS is going to react to the twins so this was the first thing I thought of when reading your post.

  • I wouldn't let anyone drive my child across country unless it were DH and I. Nothing against IL's/parents/extended family....like pp, I was raised w/and by all my grandparents/aunts/uncles and it was great. But a 3 y/o on a cross country road trip won't make for fun memories. My parents live 5 hours from us and it's HELL driving that far for a visit w/our 4 y/o DS.

  • Never, ever.

  • No, no, no, no.
  • I love my mom to pieces...but im really scared about her driving. She hasnt got in any accidents (yet) ...but that doesnt mean that she wont. I , too , think slow drivers are more of a hazard.

  • My mother? Yes! My MIL? Absolutely not. Either way, a 3 yo is going to be miserable on such a long car trip, so maybe its not the greatest idea.
