Rec. your breast pump

BF'ing is working out so far and now I want to start looking for a breast pump.  What do you ladies use and why?  TIA!!

Re: Rec. your breast pump

  • Medela PIS - It is the only one I have ever used but I have no problems with it and like it a lot.  Easy to bring with me to work, batteries and a plug, works quickly, easy to use.

  • I got the Lansinoh.  It is the same as the Ameda Purely Yours which is rated highly like the PISA.  THe Lansinoh is much less expensive. You don't have to wash the tubing because it doesn't get milk in it.
  • I use the Medela PISA. At the hospital I used the Medela symphony and haven't noticed a difference in either one.  I'm very happy with it. I have been EP since DD's birth and I haven't had any problems.
  • I have a Medela Freestyle and really like it. ?It also doesn't get milk in the tubing so you only have to wash the horns, collection bottles and the part with the membrane in it (don't know what it's called). ?It has a rechargable battery and can be used hands-free; it even came with a belt to clip the pump to so I can do other stuff while I'm pumping.
  • I second the Lansinoh, which I went with mainly for the price.  It's worked great and I EP so I'm constantly using it.  A couple of weeks ago I dropped it (after it falling many times off the bed during the middle of the night pumps) and I think my moter finally gave out.  I called their customer service # and they overnighted me a new pump because I'm EPing, something that I think says a lot about the company.  Here's a link to a review that I found really helpful.

  • Another for the Lansinoh double electric. It is cheap compared to the PISA or even the Ameda Purely Yours (which is the same thing). It is simple to take apart/put together, and you don't have to wash the tubing. Not only that but since it is a closed system you also don't need to worry about milk backing up into the motor or mold growing in the tubing (something I have seen lots of posts about regarding the medela). It has plenty of suction and speed settings. I cannot say enough good things about it! :-)

  • I have the Lansinoh too. ?I love it and it was a lot cheaper than the Medela. ?I do have a good supply so I don't know how it would be if you had a low supply.
  • Thanks ladies!!  I was leaning towards the Medela PIS, but it sounds like the Lansinoh is just as good (or at least comparable).  Thanks again!
