haha Ditto.... Not much to actually see, although there are some good outlet centers around if you want to do some shopping? (I'm sure you have enough outlets where you are from though...)

  • yeah there isn't much in allentown. philly is a short drive away. might want to consider checking out the historic sites. bundle those babies up though- weather is quite different than texas. enjoy your stay!

  • Sorry I should have said things to do or see in Philly. And we are spending the night in NYC. With the rich history in Philadelphia I don't know whats worth seeing and whats worth skipping. DH was raised there and NYC so he desn't really have an opinion. I have been to NYC but not to PA.
  • well, if you do end up in allentown, there are things to do if you enjoy the offbeat.

right in philly there is the mutter museum (https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2207)

the art museum, natural history museum, and the franklin institute (you can google each for the websites)

every philly visitor should go to south street at least once. its not what it used to be but its a fun street for shopping. lots of unusual and artsy shops.

if i think of more, i'll come back and post.?

  • ok now i can help. there is lots to see and plenty of places inside. a few suggestions- if you like art- there is a GREAT art museum- tons of interesting stuff in there. tons of impressionism- lots of japanese art- armor- tapestry, etc.

history- independence hal, constitution center, liberty bell, betsy ross house.

fairmount park is a nice place to stroll if the weather is decent. reading terminal market is a great place to eat- soooo many choices.

the philadelphia zoo would be a fun place to stop- mostly all outside- so weather permitting.

franklin institute is a lot of fun- even for adults.

  • I'm from Allentown..well technically next door in Bethlehem.  You might want to check out downtown Bethlehem.  It's very historic and has great little shops and awesome restaurants.  There is really not much to see here in the Lehigh Valley.

If you have kids, you can go to the Crayola Factory in Easton.

As for shopping we have the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall and The Promenade Shops in Center Valley (all very close to Allentown). For the real good shopping though you can hit The Crossings Premium Outlets up in the Poconos (about 40 min. north in Tannersville), or King of Prussia Mall in Philly.

If you need any help w/ the Allentown area feel free to page me at anytime. I'm on this board everyday.
