oh that's my wedding anniversary! And my orig due date Mine will be 1 on oct 8th and i need some ideas as well. I have no idea what we are doing. It's so hard with a boy & girl!!
We did a Seuss, Thing 1 Thing 2 theme for the twin's 1st - it was fun. For DS1's 1st we did a farm theme - there's soooo much you can do with farm themes.
I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.
I'm a long way off too, but I think I want to do something like "it takes two." I've been making lists of things that come in pairs (Twinkies, ketchup and mustard, PB&J, etc.) and famous twosies like Laverne ad Shirley, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Chip and Dale.... I just keep adding to the lists as I come up with them and later I will figure out how to tie it together.
As far as the themes go, the pp's seem to have you covered with lots of fun, creative idea, so I wanted to offer some practical advice and lessons we learned.
We had our party at a local park that had a nice building with a kitchenette, bathrooms, and all the tables and chairs we'd need, plus great parking, and handicap accessibility (which was nice for the older crowd). Since we lived in the community, it only cost us $35 to rent out, and it was worth every penny!
The other great thing that about it, was that my girls got to stay at home with DH and my MIL and follow their normal routine. After they had lunch and woke up from their afternoon nap, they brought them over to the party and they had a blast! I think if we'd had a whole bunch of activity going on at home, they would have been thrown all out of wack by the time the guests would have arrived, and it might not have gone so smoothly.
GL with your party planning!
