  My kid plays too much Mario Kart. He's much better at it than me. He also plays with his Explorer. Of course, he's also playing two sports, and is starting to read by himself. He plays outside a lot. They only get out of control if you as a parent.
  
  Forbidding stuff like that only makes your kid want it more, IMO.

  I think this sort of reads like forbidding, PMQ.  Especially the last part about letting it be given as a gift.
  

  At least for children around the age we are talking about since she says maybe when they can buy them on their own...

  ETA: I also think most of us are referring to our kids that are of an age to ask for these things if their friends have them or we have them in the house.  I certainly am not putting a Wii remote in Scarlett's hands nor will she probably play for quite some time.  Jackson didn't get interested until he was close to 4 and we've had the Wii since around the time he was 1.
