I swear, if she tells me one more time about putting rice cereal in DDs bottle I might snap! It's like she forgets that she tells me the same story every single time I see her! And her friend's daughter gives her newborn cereal now, so she looks at me even more like I have two heads for not doing it! she asked when I will start (she has asked me no less than 5 times already), I said usually they start around 4 months and other solids a month or two later. She was like "oohhh...by that time you will be giving her a couple 8 oz bottles a day!!" Riiigghhtt...and your point is???
She also told me I should give DD bottles with a couple ounces of water only to quench her thirst rather than formula, because "she just might be thirsty". OK, well if I am giving her a bottle anyway, why not add the formula to at least give her some nutrients while quenching her thirst???
Thanks but no thanks, MIL!
Re: Ugh, MIL's brilliant "advice"
a. tell her to STFU
b. we have that same bib as the one in your siggy pic. so cute!
lol FIL does this. He keeps asking if we put cereal in her bottle yet whenever I see him. I see him once a week & he never fails to ask me this question.
FIL & MIL got into an argument over it the last time. lol It was too funny.
My SMIL says the same sh!t and then proceeds to argue with me when I tell her I'm not doing it. I don't particularly care for unsolicited advice, but whatever, most people mean well; but don't argue with me about the decisions I make for my kid...especially when they're based on current research and my pedi's suggestions. Ugh!
Why do they shove their sdvice down our throats. I like to tell MIL how things have changed so much since she had DH and then fill in the blank for study that shows she could have harmed DH by doing it her way. I also pointed out that the pedi always says exactly opposite of her opinion.
You also know someone on the nest whose 23 week old (he's 5 months, but they were long months) is eating 6-7 oz bottles during the day of EBM and who knows how much from the boob the rest of the time. He STTN just fine and has never had cereal. I'll try it next week and if he isn't ready, I'll wait even longer!
I live in Texas, she should come find me to set me straight!
