now they're attacking Sesame Street - nbr - short vent - possible controversy?

I read this article, which is really kind of short, but the fact that someone can attack Sesame Street for being liberal/leftist annoys me. Were you wanting a kids show that teaches racism instead of getting along with everyone, or wanting kids to be taught that if you disagree on something on the playground, just fight to see who wins instead of talking it out? Really? Cause I thought we were supposed to raise kids to be good people, helpful and polite and responsible. I didnt realize that was liberal brainwashing, but apparently since they got my mind and turned me into a zombie long ago, what do I know.
Ugh, okay vent over. Anyone wanting to commiserate or argue about this is welcome. So is anyone who wants to turn this into a chipmunk vs squirrel post or whatever else.

  • People are stupid.

That being said, I plan on showing the girls old episodes of Sesame Street instead of new ones whenever possible.

I think I'd stab someone if I had to watch that much Elmo.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK.  Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.

  • I got a Sesame Street themed remote for Dana (she loves remotes and I was tired of taking away our real ones from her), and it heavily features Elmo. Big Bird isn't even on there (!!), yet there are buttons for cat, car, soccer ball, and rocket ship. WTF mate

Grover was always my favorite. He's not on there either.

THIS is the reason we don't watch Sesame Street in our household. MIL lets DS watch it at her house. If she can put up with Elmo and his baby talk, God bless her, but I just can't.

I do have some DVRed for C, but he doesn't really care for it, not enough music. I noticed that it is harder to keep up with a bit, there are a lot more background details, and whatever happened to Snuffy? Elmo barely had a presence when my sister was a kid, but now everything is Elmo other than Grover, Oscar, Cookie Monster and Big Bird, I dont recognize any other characters. And Elmo's world makes me want to hurt people.

  • I love Elmo. I never did until he started hanging out with Ricky Gervais and making not-for-Sesame-Street videos and now Elmo is hilarious to me.

Also Kevin Clash - the voice & puppeteer of Elmo - was also the voice of Splinter in the original live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
