XP: Nasal congestion in baby

Last night and this morning we have noticed quite a bit of congestion from our little guy. When he breathes through his nose its all stuffy, and when he's eating he gets all frustrated because he can't breathe fully through his nose. I've tried the suction bulb but seem to not get anywhere with it. I've read to squeeze breast milk in but can't seem to get that to work. When DH takes his shower later I will bring LO in with me so he can get the steam.

I know it says not to worry (dr.google) but just wanted to know if anyone else's LO is suffering from nasal congestion and what you're doing for it.

Re: XP: Nasal congestion in baby

  • DD had a tiny bit of congestion and her pedi suggested some saline spray. I've yet to try it as I know she won't like it and its seemed to have subsided a bit.

  • Laine is still pretty mucusy...luckily the suction bulb has been successful (and dare i say...i think she likes it???)  I would try saline drops though, and standing in the steamy bathroom sounds like a good plan too!!!

Yep.  My baby sounds like a pig snorting all the time.  Pedi said it's normal for the first month or so.

Have you tried a cool mist humidifier?  Squirting saline spray up his nose?

  • Audrey has been stuffy the past few days. I took her in the bathroom while I took a long hot shower and that did seem to help her out for a bit. However she was back to being stuffy a few hours later. The suction bulb just makes her mad and doesn't seem to get anything out.
