So ds2 is 19months and he is allgeric to anything that has milk protiens in it. He needs to gain weight like yesterday!! With this allergy it really makes things hard. Not to mention he also has a immature swallow reflex so he still gets things put in the food processor.
This is a typical day for him
B. A bottle when he wakes up 9oz of soymilk mixed with stage 2 soy formula (just to get the calories in)
A scrambled egg (egg betters because its not real egg) about 1-2
juice
L. Rice or beef a roni (we just figured out he likes this) -- but it has to go through the food processor, a soft fruit that also goes through. and juice another 9oz bottle with formula before nap
D. if what we are having does not have any milk protiens such as cheese, milk, cream, butter it goes in the food processor and he gets that.
There are snacks of fruit and veggies that go through the processor throughout the day as well.
Doctors will not even enterain the thought of a food challenge until the age of 5 and only after another blood and skin test.
Please help he needs to gain weight and eat more, and so many things have milk protiens in it.
Re: I need meal ideas for a 19month old with a milk protien allergy
Is he allergic to eggs? Could you give him real eggs instead?
When we were trying to get my daughter to gain weight, the nutritionist said to bake or cook things with olive oil for added calories. Do you scramble the egg betters in oil? Could you bake chicken or turkey in oil then puree it?
Can you make him a smoothie of fruits and add in some soy formula for calories?
Has he tried tater tots (most times the ingredients are potatoes and oil) and then puree those?
What about a soy ice cream?
GL!
dip everything in olive oil. When you make pasta, put olive oil
peanut butter / almond butter (if he's not allergic).
Avocados! my son has 1/2 of avocado every single day (i make this fun. i put it in an guacamole dish and mix tomatoes, onions, salt and lime juice and feed it on a chip)
use soy cheese and soy yogurts
like pp stated, stay away from processed food. If you can, get a crockpot and put meat in there with olive oil and seasoning and the meat is so juicy and perfect for kids.
This is a typical menu for my Jacob:
B-biscuits or pancakes made from bisquick and rice milk; a dairy/egg free organic frozen waffle;cereal-frosted cheerios or berry kix; bb poptart (clarifying that its one of these items only)
L-piece of bread and vegan cheese; whole grain crackers; chicken fingers; rice pasta and daiya cheese; multigrain sun chips; nitrate free hot dog; SP fries..etc
Hes pretty limited and very picky and he also doesnt gain weight very fast. He was close to 24lbs at his 18m appt.
We try to avoid food dyes as well due to his Masto, but im getting so mentally exhausted with all of his food troubles, that I focus mainly on the dairy, egg and nuts. GL to you!

Allergic to Dairy, Eggs and Peanuts

Allergic to Peas...so far
Also we are overseas and very limited with our commissary (grocery store) so vegan anything is out. We only have the option of about 4 different types of breads so we typically stay away. Pasta is either regular or wheat or one brand of diet so we stay away from that. We had to beg to get a second brand of soy milk that wasnt $4 a half gallon
I will try the olive oil again. We tried once before after we saw the nutrisonist. She told us to coat everything in it before giving it to him and he had nothing to do it.
