Babies: 6 - 9 Months

I'm baaaaaaaaack. and a ? re: gift to bring to hospital

Hey everyone! I've been in SF visiting my parents for the past couple weeks. It feels so nice to be back home! Whenever I get back home, I realize what a homebody I am!

Ok, so my friend is going to have her baby any day now. I want to bring something to her at the hospital or to her house after the baby is born. Any ideas? I was going to do a couple freezer meals but she mentioned a few weeks ago that her mom is staying at her house for a couple weeks. She even said "so I'm not going to cook a bunch of meals." Should I make one anyways that way she has it in the freezer? I bet her mom will do that though hmmmm. What did you appreciate that people brought?

  • When I was in the hospital my sister brought my fiance and I a huge pizza from our favorite pizza joint, and it was super awesome, my nurses loved me that night because I shared. She also brought me ice cream from cold stone, both were because I spent months avoiding sugar and carbs because I had GD, and I got the go ahead from my doc to eat whatever I wanted, so hey, pizza and ice cream. I imagine pizza and ice cream would be appreciated even if the person didn't have GD, though.

Food that you couldn't eat during pregnancy is always a good choice, I know that I was all over that pizza like white on rice.

  • I think a freezer meal is still a great idea.  My mom stayed with us for a week and thanks to jaundice and nursing issues the frist week nobody had time to cook anything.  We got several freezer meals after she left, but definetly could have used a few while she was here.

If she is planning on nursing, maybe bring her a few books and magazines to pass those million hours you just sit there with a baby attached to your boob the first week.  That is one thing I was not prepared for!
